Some of the things about this job that make it desirable are: Caring for these children is very rewarding, and you develop a relationship with families. The ease of caring for one patient vs your patient load in a facility. It takes a special person to do this job, because more often than not, you are going to deal with the death of a child, you will help some of these families through the hardest thing they will ever face in life. The things that may make this type of work undesirable to some are: you are in someone's home 12 hrs. a day without a break and most of the time the living conditions are less than ideal; dirty homes and toilets, uncomfortable seating/work area. Your work schedule (paycheck) can change at any minute d/t a patient suddenly being hospitalized or family/nurse incompatibility.
