Pediatric Clinical Trials International, Inc. (PCTI) was one of the nation's first site networks to conduct inpatient and outpatient pediatric and adolescent pharmaceutical research. We work with pharmaceutical companies to evaluate medications to treat children with acute and chronic conditions in many different physician specialties.
PCTI was launched on the foundation of two decades of experience as the clinical study center for pediatric research at Children's Hospital, in Columbus, Ohio. The clinical study center conducted hundreds of Phase I-IV studies, across virtually all therapeutic areas. In October 1998, the Columbus Clinical Study Center was incorporated and re-named PCTI, (a wholly owned subsidiary of Columbus Children's Hospital), with the plan of growing its network of pediatric sites and offering pharmaceutical companies a single point of contact for their pediatric clinical trials. In 2000 we were joined by our first partner site, PCTI Akron which is located at Children's Hospital Medical Center of Akron. In April 2001, our second partner site, PCTI Temple located at Scott and White Memorial Hospital in Temple, Texas joined us. In May 2003, our third partner site, PCTI Dayton located at The Children's Medical Center, Dayton, Ohio joined us. Our plan is to expand our capabilities to other locations around the country.
PCTI's pediatric research sites are located at large children's hospitals or pediatric centers and have strong affiliations with nearby academic institutions and community based pediatrician practices. These partnerships create an enterprise, which combines the inherent benefits of both academic medical centers and non-academic clinical trial centers.
