Stressful
Nursing Assistant (Current Employee) –  point pleasant_doylestown_quakertown_PhiladelphiaJanuary 9, 2018
This is a very understaff place. Managment is terrible. They have no consideration for their employees. Managment team also seems confused or not knowledgeable about how to run a business. The amount of work they want you to do is ridiculous by yourself especially if you work at one of their houses. They want you to take care of 6-8 kids. The problem is there is a lot of lifting they expect you to mop floors take out trash do laundry while the RN and LPN do nothing but give meds. Plus you have to do your regular assignments changing and bathing kids and dressing them. They are teenagers so its a lot. No thank you. I worked a 16hr shift with a 30min break?

Such a great opportunity for new nurses but with poor management and understaffing, nurses seek to find better opportunities. Extremely high turnover rate.

Wonderful children
Registered Nurse (Former Employee) –  Aliquippa, PAOctober 23, 2017
The best part of this job is taking care of the wonderful children. Nurses and nurse techs learn so much about the children and their diagnosis. There are always respiratory therapists on each shift that provide excellent care. This is a fast paced work environment with alarms constantly going off. The hardest part of the job is working short staffed. Direct caregivers are expected to provide care to these fragile children without an adequate staff. Management is poor and money comes before the care of the children.
Pros
Wonderful Children
Cons
Management and short staffing

NURSE TECHNICIAN (Former Employee) –  Hopewell, PASeptember 11, 2017
poor management, low morale, can't keep staff so most times worked under staffed. Pay is horrible unless you're a nurse or management. They do a tuition reimbursement program after you work there for a year.

tuition reimbursement

Philadelphia (PRN) (Current Employee) –  Philadelphia, PAAugust 11, 2017
Amazing place to work, management as well as clinical staff all help to assure that patients are well cared for and watched over. Hardest part of the job is trying to not get attached to the children.

Work can be stressful, kids are the best part of the job.
Registered Nurse/Charge Nurse (Former Employee) –  Lancaster, PAJuly 13, 2017
The children really are the best part of working here. The ability to connect with them on a deep level due to frequent interactions with them really made me love what I do. The work environment and the upper management is really what caused the most stress. There are often poor staffing ratios due to high turnover and that doesn't benefit the children that you are caring for. Upper managements policies often seem more concerned with issues other than what is best for the children. I found the stress and negative feelings of upper management trickled down to the other staff involved, making typical work days stressful.
Pros
learning experiences related to children with special needs
Cons
unhealthy staffing ratios and stressful work environment

Rewarding job with many learning and advancement opportunities
RN Staff Nurse (Former Employee) –  PhiladelphiaMarch 20, 2017
The kids are the most amazing part of the job. It is not an easy job due to the acuity of some of the children but worth every minute. Great experience with vent/trach patients, great support from intelligent and hardworking RT staff to teach and support you. Difficulties with staffing ratios, employee benefits and salaries could be improved. Culture is improving and staff appreciation and team building has become a goal of upper management which is great. With a positive attitude and hire of employees who love their job and these kids the potential to be an amazing place which is much needed in Philadelphia.
Pros
children, opportunity to learn and grow as a nurse, advancement, staff

Nurse Aide (Current Employee) –  Point Pleasant, PANovember 15, 2016
Favoritism..if you're a part of the 'team' you get recognized and appreciated with gift cards, and extras. Not everyone though, almost like you have to brown nose to be known. Huge discrimination issues with fairness. Someone who never calls out gets ridiculed and told they need to show up to work, but others dont. Scheduler can't get it together, schedules are changing all the time for no reason. Administrator and her 'clan' act as if they are untouchable.
Pros
The residents
Cons
Administrator, and upper management live in a dream world

Great experience/Work environment is horrible
Patient Care Technician (Current Employee) –  Philadelphia, PASeptember 8, 2016
The experience you receive there looks awesome on your resume. You get experience with trach/vent care, TPN's, NG tubes, G tubes and J tubes. although the experience is exceptional, the work environment is horrible. The nurses barely help out, its under staffed, our work load increased due to understaffed, and they work you like crazy.

Must love the kids to make it worth it
NA (Former Employee) –  Point PleasantAugust 9, 2016
Kids are great and make it worth it but management makes it impossible. they are all egocentric maniacs. you cringe when you get into work to see how little staff, too many kids to properly care for. new management that came in isn't experienced and do not support staff. feels like they are just figuring out as they go.
Pros
kids, coworkers
Cons
money, short staffed, manalygement, children not cared for proper

Registered Nurse (Former Employee) –  Aliquippa, PAJuly 18, 2016
As I read through the reviews everyone seemed to like there jobs but there seemed to be one common factor of the hate for corporate management. Corporate management and how they treat the employees as disposable and can easily be replaced. Corporate management also does not consider the wellbeing of the children when it comes to money. MONEY COMES FIRST! E very thing else is last. You would think with so much turnover between management and employees they would find the common denomiator.I believe the employees that stay with the company do so because of the satisfaction one gets for taking care of such wonderful children. The medical staff work together as a team giving the utmost care to the children.
Pros
Children appreciate your care
Cons
Corporate management

rewarding work with low pay and poor management
Program Specialist (Former Employee) –  Point Pleasant, PAOctober 23, 2015
This position does not have set job responsibilities. There are set things you have to do, but the responsibilities are always growing and you are constantly being asked to do things outside of your job umbrella. The primary responsibility is documentation for government regulated compliance and improving the quality of life for the kids. This would be a wonderful job if you had to do only that. This company has a high turnover rate for employees because of the way management runs the "business" of providing care to medically fragile children. This is a for profit company. The hardest part of the job is trying to find the time to spend with the sweet children while swimming in paperwork and juggling nurse tech, dietary and transportation job responsibilities. I worked here for a little over a year and toward the end of the year the majority of my co-workers were newer to the company than I was. The most enjoyable part of the job is working with therapy to improve outcomes for the children. These are the individuals who really care about the kids. The kids are the reason to come to this job and the only reason to stay.
Pros
the kids, location is aesthetically pleasing, decent health benefits
Cons
short breaks, low pay, high turn over, poor management, unreasonable schedule and hours, unreasonable growing list of responsiblities
