Systems Design Specialist (Former Employee) – Middletown, PA – May 30, 2017
Penn State Harrisburg has seen a tremendous shift in its IT culture. IT at PSH went from management who neither had the expertise or skills to on which to build a solid department staffed by capable personnel. Significant errors caused by the IIT Department resulted in former IT management being replaced. New IT management standardized on applications such as email and finally delineated exactly what the IT Department would and would not support. Hardware was FINALLY put on a 3-5 year lifecycle. No more were old PCs from computer labs, no less, being given to office users who needed functional systems for the duration of the work day. The culture of break/fix was done away with. Still, there were problems with employees who should never have retained their positions either because of incompetence or just plain lack of manners or ability to communicate or disseminate information with colleagues. The IT culture has improved substantially, however, working at a college has its issues especially with faculty and their entitlement mentality. Penn State Harrisburg would be a good place to start or end a career in IT but not a place to spend all of one's working years.
Athletics Department Student Worker (Former Employee) – Middletown, PA – March 12, 2017
I have enjoyed working in being apart of Penn State Harrisburg's Athletics Department. The position was very flexible since I am a student and the tasks were well laid out and simple. I have assisted in preparing for sporting events and as well handled cash for ticket revenue for our events.
