Very good team, dedicate people , good projects, and tight timelines. Logistics is a low margin business, hence all solutions developed are built for good scalability. The organization spends on building out robust infrastructure.

Penske has alot to offer to people who are willing to excel.
Management Trainee (Current Employee), Shreveport, LAMarch 13, 2015
Pros: vacation, healthcare, 401k, discounts, & sick days
Cons: no overtime
The atmosphere and people are great. They are willing to teach you anything you want to learn. I learned some excellent management and phone skills. The management isn't bad but there are "too many chiefs and not enough Indians". Which can be aggravating at times. The hardest part of the job to me is time management. On busy days it's hard to get your assigned duties completed in a timely manner.

Wasn't the best job wasn't the worst either
Forklift Operator (Former Employee), Clyde, OHMarch 8, 2015
Pros: good group of people
Cons: kindof a cut throat company
I thought the job was "ok" at best. Wasn't the greatest pay and management wanted you to bust your butt for pennies on the dollar basically. Although, they did go to a piece rate shortly after I left which turned into the employees I used to work with making a decent wage overall.

Started as a beginner tech learning the equipment and proceedures as preforming preventive maintiance on diesel and trailers. provided me with uniforms and jackets to maintain professionalism as required at penske. Co-workers were helpful and very knowladgable on the maintiance of tractors and trailors. within my first week i recieved $1 hr pay raise. i most enjoyed every part of the job as i was continually buying new tools to help me improve everyday tasks.

Not a good place to work
Supervisor (Former Employee), Brownstown, MIFebruary 17, 2015
Pros: employee discounts are the only good thing about this company.
Cons: low pay, no job security, poor healthcare coverage with high out of pocket costs, no work/life balance, no sick pay without fear of losing job, unrealistic work load, no room for advancement, no raises
The company operates by individual locations, that are shut down often. There is no guaranteed job placement when locations are shut down. Senior Operations Managers run each location, we had several in a three year period. Which meant different rules/procedures of running production each time there was a change in management. This lead to chaos management. Our last Senior Operations Manager was a joke and spent more time talking himself out of trouble instead of making sure the location was being run properly and efficiently, including making sure supervisors were doing what they were supposed to be doing.
No work/life balance. I was on call 24/7 even taking calls during my vacation time. The company has outdated policies and culture. Sick pay is not a benefit because points come with using sick time and you could be fired because of the point system used. They do not believe in working from home yet you are expected to answer your phone day or night and come in to work if you cannot solve a problem over the phone. We were often called in last minute during our off days to sub for other supervisors because the Senior Operations Manager forgot to cover the shift before hand. Raises are non existent and the pension plan offered is mediocre.

simple work low pay
Diesel Mechanic (Former Employee), Colorado Springs, COFebruary 12, 2015
Pros: easy work not to many hard jobs just your basic mechanic work
Cons: second shift and pay
Worked second shift and for family life there is not any time for family. The management will try and save pennies when spending a dime. They cut corners even on shift pay if you are not there that day or at training they do not pay shift pay. They also when you work Saturday you do not get shift pay.

Material Coordinator (Former Employee), sharonville OhioFebruary 11, 2015
Pros: gainful experience on what not to do
Cons: everything
The work day consisted of chaos with no direction nor a desire from management to fix the issues creating the chaos. My co-workers were for the most part unpleasant. The most enjoyable part of this job was leaving.
