We are currently looking for an entry-level Solar Design Assistant for our Solar Division located in Fremont, CA. We are looking for someone eager to learn who wants to get their foot in the door - WE WILL TRAIN YOU!
Our office is very conveniently located next to the Fremont BART station parking lot and within walking distance to shopping, restaurants and 24-Hour Fitness.
The Solar Design Assistant's primary responsibilities include drafting roof layouts and ground mounted/rooftop solar systems and creating solar/reroof proposals. Skills required include an understanding of the Google SketchUp Tool, size and output of solar modules, fundamental knowledge of roofing systems, Microsoft Excel, and Sugar CRM.
~ Drafting of Roof and Solar Systems on residential properties using Google SketchUp
~ Maintain a solid knowledge base of local code requirements, products, roofing processes, solar installation practices, and industry norms
~ Work closely with Sales to ensure that the design is reviewed/accepted by the customer
~ Assist Sales with proposal adjustments and detailed design requests
~ Work closely and communicate effectively with PetersenDean's Customer Care Department
~ Ensure that designs are as accurate as possible and are completed in a timely manner, with the end product being within the specifications of the PetersenDean Residential Re-roof and Retrofit Solar Engineering Department.
~ Work towards "continuous improvement" in completing tasks and communicating with fellow workers
~ Expert-level understanding of tools required to perform work and meet established goals and targets
~ Create Reroof Proposals using Reroof Par-Price tool
~ Work closely with other departments in regards to special pricing and design requirements
~ Ability to educate/train others in regards to all solar/reroof aspects
~ Must be self-driven, highly motivated and able to work with minimal supervision
~ Must understand the fundamental design requirements of a residential solar electric system
~ A general understanding of housing construction, solar, and roofing
~ Knowledge in drafting using CAD and/or SketchUp is a plus
~ Ability to work under stress to meet deadlines
~ Ability to prioritize and multitask
~ Excellent written and verbal communication skills
~ Strong computer skills including proficiency in drafting and design
~ Must be a team player, and be able to manage a consistent work load
