PFLAG Portland Black Chapter

About PFLAG Portland Black Chapter

Mission: Portland's African-American/Black PFLAG (Parents, Families and Friends of Lesbians and Gays) chapter promotes the health and well-being of gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender persons, their families and friends through: support, to cope with an adverse society; education, to enlighten an ill-informed public; and advocacy, to end discrimination and secure equal human rights. PFLAG provides an opportunity for dialogue about sexual orientation and gender identity, and acts to create a society that is healthy and respectful of human diversity. Parents and Friends of Lesbians and Gays – Portland Black Chapter (PFLAG PBC) was formed to address the need to have culturally specific work in the Black community around lesbian gay bisexual transgender queer (LGBTQ) equality. We address the multiple layers of discrimination that LGBTQ Black people and their families and loved ones face, and offer opportunities to transform our community.
