Summary:
Phelan Hallinan, PLC is currently seeking experienced Bankruptcy Legal Assistants to join our Fort Lauderdale based Law Firm. We’re looking for intelligent, hard working, reliable, self-motivated individuals that show initiative. Ideal candidates will be detail oriented and will handle responsibilities independently, without needing to be prompted. Strong computer skills are a must. Bilingual preferred, but not required. Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Candidate must have knowledge of Chapter 7, 11 and 13 cases, including preparing and filing motions and responses (such as MFRs, MTVs and Objections to Plan) and POCs. Must have a strong knowledge of U.S. Bankruptcy Courts’ and U.S. District Courts’ Local Rules and procedures, including E-Filing. Prepare and proofread legal documents and correspondence. Edit documents for proper phrasing and grammar. Compose correspondence, memoranda and drafts of legal documents for attorney’s review and signature as directed by the attorney. Retrieve and process data, documentation and reports from client systems. Contribute to team effort through timely and accurate completion of tasks. Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities. Communicate with clients professionally and courteously through written, verbal or electronic communications. Provide excellent customer service to clients.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills are required.
  • Attentive to detail and ability to concentrate for long periods of time.
  • Proficient with Excel and other Microsoft Office products.
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks.
  • Overall positive attitude and willingness to adapt to change.
  • Must possess good organizational skills.
  • Ability to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner.
  • Excellent customer service abilities and interpersonal skills.
  • Must be a team player and willing to provide assistance in multiple areas as necessary.
