I went in to work and manually inspected each chicken tender that came through to be weighed before being sent to our companies. Although it was extremly cold it was a great work environment.

An ok atmosphere surounding the job
Lead person (Former Employee), Sumter, SC –
Alot of yelling and working is a typical day at pilgrims. I've that the poultry business is vast conglomerate around the world. Management was very strict ,but i got immune to it. The hardest areas of the job was first cutting and rolling wings. Overall I enjoyed working at pilgrims.

Pros: people that i work with and the daily challenges
Cons: staffing
Direct production / processing supervisors across several departments on a single shift to assure cost-effective, on-time manufacture of quality products

Rather be broke...office culture difficult to decipher...
temp (Former Employee), greeley, co –
Pros: nice looking building, huge variety of food for lunch
Cons: are the workers aliens?
Worked at Swift (Pilgrim's Pride is part of Swift) as a temporary. This company did not make me want to work there other than as a temp. Permanent people seemed afraid to lose their jobs.It felt like you were on another planet while in the building.Phoney smiles waiting to make a kill.More weird office games. As for me, I just can not and do not play – more...  anymore for any amount of money.Life is too short to be that uncomfortable at work..I prefer to live my life with less and appreciate more. – less

Horrible place to work.
Stack-off Worker (Former Employee), Moorefield, WV –
Pros: good pay, good benefits.
Cons: horrible supervisors, massive drug problems, rampent favoritism.
I worked at Pilgrim's Pride for 14 months, I was constantly singled-out bu my supervisor for no reason. I was forced to work on 2 man lines by myself and all pleas for help were ignored. I eventually was able to get moved to a better line until I was fired for a pathetic reason.

New responsibilities are added everyday, but mention a raise and the department can't afford it right now.

Very fast paced. It was all in your park, as you were in control of purchasing and selling products.
sales manager (Former Employee), south Texas –
Great company, with decent benefits. Overall, you were your own boss, with little supervision. Hard work, but paid well and very fair. When asked, management was always available and willing to help. I enjoyed working with them.

The worst company ive ever worked for
Quality Assurance Tech. (Former Employee), Sanford, N.C –
Pros: healthcare
Cons: points system, management, poor production
i worked with this company as a quality assurance tech. The way the company runs itself is ither you have friends and you advance or if you make anyone mad then you will get fired. Supervisors hold your points untill you make them mad and then get rid of you even if you have been told by many people you are the best for this job. its just a rediculous – more...  place to work and they are never fair to each employee and this company is going down the drain with corruptness and poor production. – less

Ashley – February 9, 2012

I agree completely! I have worked as a QA Tech for nearly 2 years and I can say that it is all about numbers; quality is not top priority. Not only that, I just watched another QA Tech advance to management position who has only been a tech for 6 months! Just because he has a family member in management! I have been trained on several different lines while all he has ever done is SSOP's and SRI's...AMAZING! Nevermind the fact that I and several other highly qualified QA's put in for the job.

Its a great company to work for as long as you don't step on your supervisors toes or someone close to the supervisor otherwise they will get rid of you.

Advancement, Point system
Leader 1 (Former Employee), Sumter, SC –
Pros: healthcare, cafeteria
Cons: points system, breaks, pay system
There isn't much advancement with in Pilgrim's pride. Someone who work there a year can make the same thing as someone who work there 20 years. There point system and vacation system doesn't really help the employer Pilgrim's those days. If you happen to go on medical leave any vacation time that yo may have will be tooken from you.

People are completely expendable at this company. Job-seekers beware: you may get a job at the headquarters, but you can be laid off with absolutely no warning. People vanish from their desks! A very dog-eat-dog environment...it's all about covering for yourself and climbing the ladder. Sad day-to-day environment in a spectacular building. Can't tell a book by its cover!
