Very busy, fast paced environment yet very enjoyable
Desk Staff/Customer Service (Current Employee), Rocky Point, NY –
Pros: very interactive, utilize communication skills, build relationships
Cons: not long term, no benefits, not enough pay
A typical day at Planet Fitness consists of myself and my co-workers assisting the 14,000+ members that attend and utilize our facility, cleanliness is one of our top priorities so I am always circling the facility making sure all cleaning areas are fully stocked, weights are in the proper place, locker rooms and tanning facilities are clean and refrigerators – more...  are fully stocked. Customer service is the main focus of my job, My duties include assisting members with any questions or concerns that they may have whether its regarding billing problems, questions about the fitness center or information regarding equipment that we have.
I work very well independently as well as part of a team and I am constantly brainstorming with my co-workers and manager to improve Planet Fitness and make it even more enjoyable for the members than it already is.
The hardest part of my job is trying to assist customers that are very close minded and do not want to resolve a problem or issue but mkae an even bigger problem than whatever it may be at the time. I always try my best to come to a conclusion and resolve it as best as I can for the member.
The most enjoyable part of my job is the relationships that I have built and connections I have made with the members that I see everyday. I absolutely LOVE to build new friendships with individuals. – less

I worked there for ten months before returning to focus on my schoolwork. While I was there, I made many friends, learned about health and fitness, and was inspired to start my own lifelong fitness goals.

Great place to work for experience
Club Manager (Current Employee), Appleton, WI –
Pros: dental and vision
Cons: pay is not the most competitive
Being in management, I really was able to see how the business was ran as a whole. Being a franchise the owners had to abide by corporate regulations and procedures. It was a great way to meet new people that were interested in the area of fitness. Many of my employees were in their early twenties, so the job came with a lot of energy. Planet Fitness – more...  prides itself on customer service, which they do a great job of it. The hardest part of the job for me was to let someone go, but for employees it would have to be the "New Year's Rush". The most enjoyable part of the job would have to be helping customers achieve their fitness and weight loss goals. – less

Front Desk Associate (Former Employee), Glen Burnie, Maryland –
A typical day of work would start off by changing the pro rates for our various options for memberships. Sort through all of the paperwork so that it could be entered into the system overnight. I learned that being responsible and attentive to the members and co-workers would result in healthy relationships. Management was always pleasant. My co-workers – more...  were fun to work with. The hardest part of my job was the hours but I learned to overcome that obstacle. The most enjoyable part of the job was meeting different people. – less

Fitness Trainer (Former Employee), Ithaca, NY –
Pros: easy job
Cons: no room for advancement of your career
I did a stint here when I started training while still a undergrad. Management was unknowledgeable, and behaved like high school children. No benefits, time off was always a hassle, and all of the staff was watched via camera 24/7. Good job if a teenager, but move on fast.
