My co-workers made a huge difference.
Registered Nurse PACU (Current Employee) –  Plantation, FLJune 18, 2017
It's a nice place to work. A typical day at work starts early in the morning with patients coming from the OR. Management could be better. Hardest part of the job is the call hours. Most enjoyable aspect is the people I worked with.
Pros
Nurses I worked with.
Cons
Call

management is not as good as they use to be. They are not about the employess like it use to be. The nurses lack love and care for the patients. I wouldn't bring my family here

Utilization Review Nurse (Former Employee) –  Plantation, FLJune 6, 2017
Daily balancing of 5 duties: Interqual, sending UR data, receiving authorization for Inpatient/Observation stay. Receive denials & daily communication with Hospitalist to overturn denial. Most interesting part was working the denials & at one time working with insurance contracts. Least enjoyable was working the cert report something a secretary would normally handle and non-productive time for an RN.
Pros
Wonderful staff
Cons
Needed improvement in health care benefits; high turnover of executives

great place to advance your skill set . friendly co-workers.
RN, Emergency Department (Current Employee) –  Plantation, FLMay 16, 2017
Busy, fast-paced environment. Great place to learn new skills and advance your current skill-set. Co-workers easy to work with. Management very approachable, understanding of family obligations, flexible and fair. The subject matter can be overwhelming at times (death and trauma). You must have thick skin to work in an ER. But it is rewarding to be able to help patients and make a difference in their lives.
Pros
fast paced
Cons
short breaks, benefits could be better

Registered Nurse (Current Employee) –  Plantation, FLMay 9, 2017
Typical RN job, fast paced and demanding.
Patient ratio is high, meaning you need great time management skills to succeed. I value the experience this hospital gave me and would continue to work at this facility part-time if possible. The staff works as a team and are extremely friendly.
Pros
Hire new nurses
Cons
short staffed

OR Scheduler / Transporter (Former Employee) –  Plantation, FLApril 4, 2017
A typical day at work included transporting patients out of Pacu back to outpatient or inpatient if the patient was already admitted in the hospital. Taught me great people skills and how to interact with patients who are not in the best well being and how to help ease their stress. The workplace was very pleasant because my fellow colleagues are great team players, always helping out. sometimes the job would be short staff which made it a little harder to tend to every patients immediate needs. the most enjoyable part of my job was putting a smile on someone's face or a patient says thank you for helping them even though it may have been something simple.
Pros
Great co workers, Great team players
Cons
low salary

Thrown to the wolves, no hands on training
Not Applicable (Former Employee) –  Plantation, FLDecember 21, 2016
They give the impression of if they care, . Lack of hands on training for new hires. Shadowing (walk around behind other associates) but no training. Web training is great but nothing for the actual work. You are thrown to the wolves, ask for help and they expect you to know it day one after 4 half days of webinar.

Can be a good place to work, if only management take the time to make sure that you are properly trained on their program.
Allow time to learn the different requirement especially if you are not familiar with them.

IMCU- Registered Nurse (Former Employee) –  Plantation, FLJune 30, 2016
This was a good "stepping stone" position because it set the pace to learn how to become organized and manage your time in between patient's however I didn't feel safe taking care of patient's there sometimes.

unit secretary (Former Employee) –  Plantation, FLJune 27, 2016
Ok place to work. Can be better if everyone worked together. It's like it's who you know that some people get away with things. You feel like you have to walk on eggshells around certain people. That is not ok.

Great team dynamics with committed nursing leaders
Nurse Manager, Telemetry (Current Employee) –  Plantation, FLJanuary 27, 2016
Fast paced workplace that forces you to be an expert at time management. Promotes resourcefulness to improvise when necessary. Workload for one manager with no assistance on a more or less challenging unit with very sick clients clambering for your assistance can be quite overwhelming and emotional when you are unable to meet the needs of those you are sworn to keep safe. Coworkers work well together to achieve the goals of the institution but the hardest part is watching all your hard work go to naught due to the inconsistencies or lack of follow through by superiors. The most enjoyable part of the job is actually hearing the accolades of patients and their families when there is an acceptable outcome.

Broken culture for hadwiring initiatives

It is a small community hospital and staffing problems continue to arise and the assignments are heavy. There needs to be changes made.
