Pros: postivie co-workers. learning on a daily basis
Cons: very long communte to work.
The management was excellent working at PLS. The management really have taught me to be a professional at the same time helped me learn about information technology. The co-workers were very motivated, energetic, and positive individuals and I really did enjoy coming to work everyday because of that work environment. The hardest part of the job was the long hour commute to get to work.

Customer Service Manager (Former Employee), Los Angeles, CAJuly 10, 2013
Pros: the ability to make decision and having upper management back you 100%
Cons: unable to leave the store once you get in
A typical day started off by verifying with the bank if its ok to deposit the customers checks. Then making the necessary phone calls to the various customers reminding them that their loans are due and at what time will they be available to come in. A projection is done as to what is need to done, how many more loan do we need to do to meet the goal for the week.
I have learned to project bad debt, weekly sales goal and how to estimate what the revenue will be like for the end of the year.
My staff was well discipline and was willing to go the extra mile to ensure that the work is done.
The hardest part was denying a customer because they did not qualify for a loan.
Meeting new people, talking to them and providing excellent customer service.

No advancement, poor culture
Senior Help Desk Technician (Former Employee), Chicago, ILMay 16, 2013
Pros: fair pay, some decent people
Cons: sub-par management, no growth opportunities, technologically behind.
After 5 years there was no room for growth or advancement. Culture was not friendly or helpful, group members did not share knowledge, management left a lot to be desired.

Repetiive tasks daily with little new knowledge. Asked management for growth from the beginning but was ignored. Most co-workers were cold and unfriendly, tho a few were very nice. Culture left a lot to be desired and I have to honestly say most fellow employees were not very bright which made it difficult to deal with them. Most enjoyable part of the job was the limited comraderie on the team, which the group did try to actively support.

Store Manager (Current Employee), columbus ohioMay 2, 2013
Low salarys horrid benefits but upper managment and Home office staff are wonderfull. Great work hours but no matter what you take work home as a store manager due to the amount of calls we take from store staff after we leave. Though I believe I have grown not only as an employee and manager but as person in the last year with this company. I often feel appriicated and hopefull for the future with them.

Would have been a great company to work for
Customer Service Rep (Former Employee), Chicago, ILMarch 20, 2013
Pros: monday through friday shift
Cons: not incentives
PLS would have been a good company to work for if management was not always looking for a reason to fire certain employees because of their ethnic background.

Don't bother if your white and male!!!!
Store Manager (Former Employee), Boston, MassachusettsFebruary 20, 2013
Cons: everything
As an ex Store Manager I can tell you if you are not a woman of Spanish descent you are not going anywhere in this company. The upper management (who are all white and male in Boston) do NOT like strong willed white male managers. They want people who are weak and will tow the company line and not complain, Speak up, try to have a life and you are gone!!!

Favoritism and double standards prevail in this company
Manager (Former Employee), Chicago ILNovember 21, 2012
Pros: company is good at branding and setting high expectations throughout entire network
Cons: top level jobs are assigned based on friendship and favoritism, not performance. extremely high turnover within their corporate office team.
Company has built a culture where nepotism and unethical practices are common. Racial diversity among their top management team is nonexistent.

HORRIBLE PLACE TO WORK
Customer Service Rep (Former Employee), Los Angeles, CASeptember 27, 2012
Pros: had some nice co-workers
Cons: low pay, poor benefits, no room to grow
I worked here for almost two years. In the beginning it seemed like a nice place to work. I was told that there were opportunities to grow within the company. THAT IS NOT TRUE!!!! Once they started making changes with management that is when things started going downhill.
