Internet Support Representative (Former Employee) – Akron, OH – May 14, 2017
It may sound like a good idea, but PlusOne was a place for children. It started out as a decent job with decent pay. Then they were sold and the owners son was in charge. He had his friends in the middle of the call center laughing and playing while you were trying to talk to an irate customer about their cable not working. They took our pay down by $2-3 and placed everyone at the base rate of $10. We used to be paid for working 2nd or 3rd shifts.
Customer Service Representative (Former Employee) – Akron, OH – April 10, 2017
The other employees are fantastic to work with. Everyone above that with a minor exception of maybe two have no real strategy for success.
Massive amounts of turnover and zero job security. The owner and his son have such bad tempers and mood swings you never know what you're getting into on a daily basis. The operations managers are dictatorial to say the least but hey, they are just following orders. You're made to wait to go to the bathroom, mostly, until your breaks, unless you have a medical excuse. Even then, sometimes they don't acknowledge it. Many times those with medical problems have gone in their chairs. Over 50 plus employees and one bathroom for each gender with two stalls a piece. Once OSHA was called on this issue and the owner said the second floor bathrooms were able to be used as well. This is a fallacy. They lock those doors or are only for training and if you are caught up there you can be terminated. It's true. It's happened.
Every other week they have systen issues and profiles don't work. Main reason being is that they don't even make the computers any more and the company won't reinvest in itself. Antiquated equipment in a call center for tech support is not a good thing.
When the client comes in the agents are handpicked from those that have been there the longest because they know what to lie to them about. The dishonesty that this company is involved with is staggering.
From fraudulent billing and payment systems you have to watch out. Think you worked overtime? Think again because it was out of that pay period. Think you made comploancemore... for your 14 an hour but were late a couple of times, think again. You will be deviated and it will put you out of compliance.
Point system for being reprimanded. Honest mistakes of not logging in and out of your phone properly, even if you did but they changed their phone systems, you still get reprimanded. That's ok, because if you accumulate too many... and they like you, they'll turn a blind eye. If they dont like you, you're out the door.
They have you sign a piece of paper during orientation saying you read the handbook, and don't cover it. Even if they do, then it doesn't matter because they can change it any time to fit their needs. You don't get a copy of it. Can only remain on the work computer. Which is fine and dandy to avoid lawsuits since you would have to sue the company to get a paper copy.
They have zero strategies to help you succeed. In my time there I have observed over 10 supervisors come and go in a 3 year period. They are treated like garbage. One was told he was like a cancer to the call center, others were so verballu abused they quit immediately.
You get no real support other than told to look at a website for answers because there is no floor support. They do have two people that help out who really want to help but are stretched 50 ways to Sunday so that becomes sporatic sometimes.
The most refreshing part of the job, was quitting.less
Human Resources and Talent Acquisition Manager (Former Employee) – Akron, OH – April 10, 2017
Poor management is an understatement. No work life balance. They do not care about their employees. Training is terrible and pay is very low. Everything they say is the interview process does not come to be true.
Inbound Call Center Representative (Former Employee) – Akron Ohio – March 23, 2017

Customer Service Representative (Former Employee) – Akron, OH 44301 – January 31, 2017
the job was a great learning environment, you'll learn something new every day and communications skills improved daily. The Supervisors are very helpful, and willing to walk you through whatever that you need assistance with. Nice people to be around.
CSR - Customer Service Representative (Former Employee) – Akron, OH – January 6, 2017
These people are crazy. They want you to work with little training. They don't tell you about sales until you get on the floor. Can't get out of training without them unless you are "kissy" with the trainers. Please don't get sick while working here. You can kiss your job goodbye! A Co-worker ended up in the hospital for days. Co-worker was fired when they tried to return. Good people work here, upper management team is very underhanded and shady. Very high turn over. They only care about money. The pay is 9 dollars! NOT 14! You have to be early everyday to make that. Never late from break. Never early to break. Sometime they Wil let you take break and then send you home early. You lose money working here. RUN!
Customer Service Representative (Former Employee) – Akron, OH – January 3, 2017
Plus One Communications is the worst place to work. Pardon me if I sound like a disgruntled former employee, but the training they give is substandard. They rush you through and then expect you quickly pick up. They offer a pay of $14, now after training, but God forbid if you get sick or have a family emergency, then you're dropped to your base pay. The company is listed as The Akron Fish Market and you will be discharged if they don't like you, or if you don't sell enough Cox Communications products. If you are able, go to a more reputable company that take time and really invest in their employee's from the training to helping you move to the next level in your career path.
CUSTOMER SERVICE LIASION (Current Employee) – Akron, OH – December 7, 2016
no job advancement and no leadership throughout the company. A stressful work environment and makes for a hostile attitude of team member. Overworked staff members and no benefits of working at this job
Technical Support Liason (Former Employee) – Akron, OH – June 30, 2016
You are not guaranteed to be paid on time. You must raise your hand to use the bathroom, and IF they allow you to go, they will make you take 2 more calls first. You are constantly penalized for things that are out of your control. overall terrible place to work
credit dispute specialist (Former Employee) – Draper, UT – May 27, 2016
seems to be easy to follow through on. I have learned communication is a big deal with this company. Looking to forward to working with people. plus one seems to be a high fast pace job which i enjoy being around.
Tech Support (Current Employee) – ohio – January 15, 2016
Pro's - Pay is great most of the employees are nice.
Con's - Hours are ok, Pay is great as long as you make sure you follow all rules i.e. be there on time, go to breaks on time and come back. You are treated like a child if you need to go to the rest room, you have to ask and then you are forced to take a break and if the calls are slow you are forced to take an unpaid extra lunch. Your computer runs slow but you are expected to have a call time of no longer than 8 minutes. If you take an approved day off it effects your pay for two weeks you will fall down to your base pay. Your vacation time is based on hours you work, which if you are deviated many times during the week you hours are less. I believe if they feel they have to treat their employees like children then they need to remove those people whom are acting like children and fire them and not take it out on the rest of the employees.
Agent (Current Employee) – Akron ohio – October 12, 2015
This company has a class starting every two weeks. The reason is your either fired or quit. It really is sales.poised as customer tech call center. The supervisors are very immature as one likes to play hide and seek. It's shocking they haven't been sued for all the s harassment and touching that goes on there. I would say if you like professional....then this is not the place.
Tech Support (Former Employee) – akron ohio – August 6, 2015
Co-workers are excellents!!! Only good thing I would have to say. You sit at your desk and take calls all day, if needed to go to restroom you would have to take your break early. Working 7 hrs only gives you one 15min break each day. If overtime is needed its mandatory, if you don't do it you'll will be written up. You get written up about every little thing..... LITERALLY! Management and higher staff will love you when your stats are good. have one bad day or a bad stat your on the bad list, like the worst employee every.
shorts breaks, unable to go to restroom when needed
Customer Service Representative/Call Center (Former Employee) – Akron, OH – June 18, 2015
A typical day at this job involved answering inbound troubleshooting calls for cox cable. I would go in, schedule my breaks, then find a available seat in my supervisors section. They didn't like when you sat to far from your supervisor, so each section was colored specifically for the supervisors team.
I learned how to be patient at this job especially when irate customers called in over something that was impossible to fix over the phone without a tech coming out (A lot of customers would get angry because they didn't want to pay tech fees). But other than that it was o.k.
I disliked some of the managers there. The ones i did like, either demoted themselves or quit before i got to know them more.
My co-workers we're o.k. but we barely got to know each other because the calls we're so repetitive.
The hardest part of the job for me was working every weekend and holiday (Christmas eve, independence day, New years eve etc...) I worked from 6pm to 2am almost everyday. My only off days we're Monday and Thursday. So if a holiday landed on my off day, i was lucky. I tried to get my off days changed but they refused to let me do so.
The most enjoyable part of the job we're the nice customers and incentives we received. I enjoyed speaking with the customers who called in happy. And the bonuses we're good you had the ability to earn 10 dollars a sale.
