POH Medical Center has created a dynamic and responsive health care system for North Oakland County residents and businesses. As one of the largest osteopathic teaching hospitals in the United States, POH is recognized for its outstanding academic and practical training in graduate medical education.
The medical staff at POH is supported by the latest – more... advances in medical technology, including the most recent CT and MRI improvements, a newly renovated Medical Imaging Department and laser surgical instrumentation for coronary, urological, ophthalmological, and gallbladder/appendix procedures. POH is affiliated with the St. John Health System and sponsors osteopathic training programs at Providence Hospital, Southfield, Michigan (Traditional Rotating Internship and Neurological Surgery); and an OB/GYN Residency Program at St. Joseph Mercy-Oakland, Pontiac, Michigan.
A POH ambulatory center, located 20 miles from our main campus in the community of Oxford, is an integral component of the Health System. Established in 1980 as a Family Practice and Urgent Care facility, the Center has expanded services to include Specialists and Subspecialists in Cardiology, Orthopedic Surgery, Obstetrics/Gynecology, Ophthalmology, Dermatology, Otolaryngology, General Surgery, Physiatry, Allergy, Podiatry, Gastroenterology, and others.
POH has responded to the community need for rehabilitative services by providing physical and occupational therapy in Oxford and Pontiac. In addition, medical equipment for patients' use in the home is available through the POH subsidiary, Home Health Care of Michigan.
In 1989, POH acquired Lake Orion Nursing Home to provide services to patients requiring extended, non-acute care.
For the special needs of businesses and corporations, POH operates Occupational Health Clinics in Auburn Hills and Oxford. A custom-designed Mobile Health Unit is equipped for X-Rays, Laboratory Tests, EKG's, and additional services for on-site examinations.
Prompt access to health care is perhaps the single, most important factor supporting our quality of life. POH is proud of the many Family Practice physicians we have trained over the past 40 years. These men and women provide personal medical care based on time-tested osteopathic principles of wellness and preventive medicine. These concepts have been adopted by the entire medical community (both D.O.'s and M.D.'s) as the most responsible and effective approach to family health care.
Residency training sites have been developed for continuity of care. All sites have Medical Center employed physicians (board certified in Family Practice and Internal Medicine, respectively) providing full-time supervision for patient care and training.
POH is proud of the dynamic, creative, and responsible health system it has designed to serve North Oakland County residents. We look forward with vision to meeting the needs of our community and guiding our citizens to a healthy and vital future. – less – More from ZoomInfo »
