Good employer for project based employment.
Program Manager/Employment Specialist (Former Employee), Portland, OR –
Pros: great benefits
Cons: ineffective union
College decided to discontinue project that employed me. I was unable to parlay that experience into another position at the College despite union mandate to do so.

My project was one of the best of its kind in the Northwest!

Pros: challenging
Cons: low pay
During the years of employment with Portland Community College I learn to understand people, motivate people and the college management supported my style and method of teaching a new language. Overall it was an interested place of employment due to the variety of different background of people.

Supportive Secretarial Position
Secretarial Assistant (Former Employee), Portland, OR –
Pros: flexible work schedule
I was only a work study student so I didn't have the added benefit of job security or benefits, but it was an enjoyable place to work. The people there were very understanding and worked well with my school schedule. And everyone was really nice.

Great place to work - culture of inclusivity
ESL and ABE instructor - part time (Former Employee), Southeast Center –
Pros: health benefits for adjunct teachers, some job security for those who qualify
Cons: job insecurity
Portland Community College is a great place to work. There is a culture of inclusivity that values teacher's input and opinions. The union is very strong and has secured adjunct teachers more job security, healthcare coverage if you work enough hours, and excellent pay.
