A wealth of knowledge.
Teacher Assistant (Former Employee), Portland, ORMarch 19, 2014
Pros: flexible hours and conferencing
Cons: limited hours while trying to balance a school schedule.
I could not get enough of the combined strengths and knowledge of this dynamic group of professors and instructors. They made me proud of who I was, and showed me to be confident in my work. They gave me the opportunities and the tools to achieve whatever I wanted to. They are the solid backbone that I stake my indepth knowledge of the manufacturing – more... world, and I will never forget the things they have done for me. – less

Overpaid union employees w/poor work ethic
Academic Professional (Former Employee), PortlandOctober 26, 2013
Pros: well paid for so little responsibility/accountability & easy work
Cons: v political culture - gangs up on you if you are not in the "in-crowd"
V sad for a College to advise No budget to pay for career-related classes & to use own vacation time. No room for advancement/Mgt positions are few. Great place for minorities to work as they can come in late, not answer their phone, do v little & get away w/it for years. No accountability. Union wants your dues for political activity but doesnt have – more... time or interest to represent ees or prevent bullying. Mgt plays favorites & hire their friends. – less

Math/Accounting/Computer Applications Tutor (Current Employee), Beaverton, ORAugust 26, 2013
Pros: learning on the job
Cons: not enough hours
I love the job I do here; however, due to the nature of the business and the position I have there aren't many shifts to go around. Overall though my job and my employer are satisfying.

Head Cashier (Former Employee), Portland, ORJuly 14, 2013
Pros: working with kids
Cons: no job openings
Meet and greet students. answer telephone and send to appropriate line, file student files. I learned to do tasks quickly and efficiently but also making sure that work was done accurately. Management was great in teaching me things that I could only learn on the job, and the co-workers were very friendly and giving good advise. The hardest part of – more... the job was the hectic mornings of doing breakfast orders, taking calls and attending to students needs. The most enjoyable part of the job was attending to the students needs. – less

Peer Mentor (Former Employee), Portland, ORJune 13, 2013
Pros: great people to work with, enjoyed helping clients
Cons: upper management wasn't that great, they were disconnected from the program.
Program I worked for was grant funded so job was not stable. Management was not the best, but my direct supervisors were amazing so that made up for it. The job itself was wonderful, wish it hadn't been temporary and that the program had more funding so I could have stayed on.

Library Assistant (Current Employee), Portland, ORJune 11, 2013
I work at PCC Cascade library 7 hours a week on Tuesday and Saturday. People at library are very friendly and supportive. The hardest part of my job is dealing with aggressive students who may be stressful at their studying. However, most of the time I have my co-workers help me to make them calm down and we finally handle it well.

Lab Monitor (Current Employee), Portland, ORMay 29, 2013
I'm currently a casual employee of PCC and I enjoy working there as a lab monitor in their drafting program. Not only does the work provide time for me to finish my homework, but I am also afforded the opportunity to help others when they attend the labs. However, the school is very budget focused and gives work-study students priority over me, when – more... the work-study students tend to not show up to their labs that they need to monitor. – less

Student Aide (Current Employee), Portland, ORMarch 5, 2013
I write notes for disabled students who cannot write for whatever reason, and it has been a rewarding experience. I go into a class, learn with the student and am there for there basic needs within their classes. The hardest part is not helping the student with their work, to tutor them, for my job is to just write whatever they tell me to write; you – more... want to help them succeed, but I know it will not help them in the future. The best part, is being able to help them succeed in something that they could not otherwise be able to do. – less

as a part-time employee, i look forward to going to work. if you enjoy academia, it's a great place to work. interacting with different students everyday keeps me on my toes, sharpens my math skills, and fine tunes my interpersonal skills. the atmosphere is laid back and socially based. my colleagues are great. i adore my supervisor. pcc is quite flexible – more... with my scheduling, which is much appreciated. – less
