Precision Poly LLC is a growing polyethylene film and bag manufacturing company in Grand Rapids, Michigan.

We are currently seeking a Plant Controller. This is a newly created position as a result of the company’s rapid growth. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing accounting and finance functions including general accounting, cost accounting, A/P and A/R, budgeting, reporting and financial analysis. We are in need of a self-starter who can make an immediate impact while continuing to grow with our company. The successful candidate will be an important addition to the management team and must be a highly viable candidate for greater responsibilities within the company in the future.

The essential duties of this position include but are not limited to:

  • Prepare timely and accurate financial statements and management reports compliant with US GAAP and corporate requirements
  • Prepare journal entries and perform month-end close functions
  • Reconcile bank and general ledger accounts
  • Ensure financial data integrity and accuracy
  • Maintain inventory management, including accounting for raw materials, assembly items and finished goods
  • Maintain the appropriate licenses and insurance required for the business
  • Ensure compliance with all US federal, state and local tax laws and regulations
  • Maintain appropriate internal control safeguards
  • Coordinate with outside auditors
  • Monitor and analyze monthly operating results against budget
  • Review, propose and implement improvements to finance, accounting, billing and auditing procedures
  • Prepare pertinent analyses and interpretations of the financial condition of the company and proactively identify opportunities to improve profitability
  • Create and evaluate financial tools and systems to include budgeting, tax planning and financial reporting
  • Interact with all levels of company including Board of Directors to directly communicate financial and strategic information including analyses, ideas and recommendations
  • Perform various administrative functions, special projects and other duties as assigned by the General Manager, President and/or Board of Directors


  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field from a four year college or university. Certified Public Accountant or Certified Management Accountant certification preferred but not required

The ideal candidate will possess the following essential skills and qualifications:

  • Outstanding interpersonal skills: the successful candidate must be able to work with a broad range of people, both internally and externally, including banking, legal, auditing and other professionals
  • Thorough knowledge of accounting principles, procedures and systems with a solid understanding of tax, treasury, financial planning and analysis and cash flow management
  • Strong background in cost accounting and related systems to drive manufacturing efficiency
  • Track record of success facilitating progressive organizational change and development within a growing organization
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in Accounting/Finance in a manufacturing environment with experience in a business with at least $25 Million in sales
  • Experience in a polyethylene film manufacturing plant is preferred
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel is required
  • Experience with Peachtree/Sage Accounting for Manufacturing software is preferred
  • Experience with Microsoft Access or similar database systems preferred
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, decision making ability and attention to detail
  • Excellent organizational, time management and problem solving skills
  • Logical career progression in a manufacturing company and a record of professional achievement
