The company offered a deliberately misleading contract that suggested compensation would be higher than it actually was. The editorial work was quite difficult, being both technical and written by non-native English writers, and the compensation offered turned out to be sweat-shop rates -- but that was impossible to know in advance. In addition, payments are supposedly made only two months after an invoice has been submitted. I still have not received payment for work that was completed more than four months ago. Communication was terrible, with answers to questions often being evasive and misleading. This is a classic example of a company that treats contract workers like trash and tries to take advantage of them at every turn. Almost all of the contractors working for this company quit around the same time, all for these same reasons. If you are a freelancer, my advice is to avoid this dishonest company like the plague.
