Not a good career choice.
Nurse (Former Employee) –  Barboursville, WVDecember 8, 2017
Good manager. Corporate is the issue at this facility. Inmates can say whatever they want to you. Due to low staff in the facility , nursing and correction officers it is very unsafe.
Cons
Mostly everything.

Only value prn staff, full time employees are abused. Don't receive lunch breaks, understaffed. Inexperienced management, too much of the buddy system.

Great Place To Work!
Employee (Current Employee) –  Harrisburg, PANovember 21, 2017
I have worked at PrimeCare Medical for over 5 years and I cant speak highly enough about it. The management team is extremely supportive and they try to be as flexible as they can to accommodate the staffs needs. The best part of the job is working with a great team day in and day out.
Pros
Good Pay, Benefits, and Company Culture

Nurse (Former Employee) –  PennsylvaniaNovember 2, 2017
The competitive pay rate is the only thing PrimeCare has to offer. I feared my license working for this company. The management has a lack of education and not helpful at all when it comes to questions about benefits, patient situations, or policies. Very unprofessional. If you value and worked hard for your license or education, this place is NOT for you.
Pros
Pay

Loved working for PrimeCare
Staff Nurse (Former Employee) –  PennsylvaniaOctober 30, 2017
Loved working for PrimeCare. Opinions were valued. Staff made to feel very appreciated. When owners had obtained several more contracts on year, instead of them keeping the profits to themselves, they actually shared it with staff by giving everyone a substantial raise.

Great Company
RN (Current Employee) –  PennsylvaniaOctober 23, 2017
A typical day is very busy. You will see every type of illness you ever imaged. Corrections can be very rewarding and most importantly our patients have very few people who are their advocates. Corrections is what you make out of it. Corrections is really the best kept secret. As a registered nurse I have a tremendous impact each day on the patients I encounter.
Pros
The patients and helping them
Cons
learning the security portion

Overworked, underpaid and not valued.
Former LPN (Former Employee) –  Pike County, PAOctober 7, 2017
Worked for this company for years and time and time again management never supported their staff. Between security and inmates the job is hard enough but to not have the support of management when having a tough day is inexcusable. Always short staffed - some working 80 hours plus a week just to cover regular shifts. When due for your yearly raise would have to continue to ask and would take months to finally receive the monies you earned. If you want a job that respects you as a professional this is not for you- if you want to feel valued because you work all the OT they want you too then go for it- just don't say no or they'll make sure you know how valued you really are. You are just a body to fill a shift so management doesn't have to no matter how hard you work.

When I worked here there were only 8 hour shifts and I enjoyed it overall. The only negative was that the staff was skeleton crew on overnights and weekends.

Beware!
Nurse (Current Employee) –  PennsylvaniaSeptember 28, 2017
Bait and switch tactics regarding employment with the agency start at the interview process. If you value your nursing license, do not work for this company. Orientation is minimal and co-workers can be less than helpful at times. Being short-staffed is the norm with nurses expected to do the job of 2-3 nurses. Breaks or meal breaks are non-existent., so expect to work a 9 or 13 hour day , or more, without a break. The inmates are the most enjoyable part of this job.
Pros
Free meals, if you get a break.
Cons
No breaks, bait and switch tactics of management regarding wages and shift work.

Terrible Company
LPN (Former Employee) –  PAJune 28, 2017
Management and the company its self will run you out. if your not a suck up and go about your day doing whatever primecare wants you to do to sweep errors under the carpet you will excel in this company. sharps and narc counts are always incorrect and management wont do anything to change things. Primecare Policies are the worst nursing policies I have ever seen. if you don't want to lose your nursing license this isn't the job for you. they will frame you for anything and everything if management doesn't like you. they might hire good LPNs but will hire the worst possible people to manage the facilities that barely have any education. and if you bring that to primecares attention you get punished for it. awful company! and if you leave the company once you have worked their don't expect them to help you or give you any information that you might need. once you aren't their employee they wont talk to you any longer

Great Learning Experience
Nurse (Former Employee) –  Harrisburg, PAJune 19, 2017
The hardest part of the job is working for the company itself. Poorly managed organization at the corporate level. People in positions that lack the qualifications to be in positions they are in. Benefits including health insurance, paid time off, and holidays are the worst I have ever experienced. Culture at contracted facility is overall a negative atmosphere. Staff meetings include getting yelled at and belittled by anyone who wants to make you feel like you are 12. Inmates and CO's are nicer than half the medical staff.
Pros
Interesting work environment

Do not work for primecare.
LPN (Licensed Practical Nurse) (Former Employee) –  Altoona, PAJune 13, 2017
First off, I enjoy corrections nursing. Unfortunately, primecare only cares about the numbers. At one point we were using cotton balls soaked in alcohol because alcohol pads were too expensive. FYI bulk box of alcohol pads are less than $2. At the particular site I worked, the DON plays favoritism and if they do not like you, they will make a way to get you fired. It's not worth it. They are so short staffed that you end up working 16 hour days. The equipment is outdated or broken. It's not a safe place to work regarding your license. And expect to go in on your day off for a "mandatory" staff meeting while the DON takes off to go to a doctor appointment.

PrimeCare honestly cares for the patients, but yes we are expected to work hard
LPN (Current Employee) –  Saegertown, PAMay 12, 2017
If you are expecting to sit back and do nothing this is not the job for you, if you are willing to work hard and therefore constantly learn together then this is a job for you. PrimeCare has high standards and really does want the best for their patients. Correctional health is a challenging field but can be rewarding. Many patient have many chronic care conditions that have not been managed that lead to many comorbidities that often the patient is not aware of until lab work etc is performed due to PrimeCare's processing of their patients. This job is forever challenging your nursing skills...ones you possess and ones you will acquire. It has taken a while but we finally have the best team ever. Love the staff I work with! There are challenging days but there are some pretty great ones too.

LPN (Licensed Practical Nurse) (Current Employee) –  Central Square, NYMay 10, 2017
Primecare is a satellite office of Oswego Hospital. Not much attention gets placed in the satellite offices. The providers are great but overworked. The office is outdated and the nursing staff has to many of the reception duties
