You don't exactly need to be prim and proper to gamble here. Primm Casinos operates three casinos in Primm, Nevada (located on the border between southern California and southern Nevada). Its Whiskey Pete's, Buffalo Bill's, and Primm Valley Resort properties together offer more than 3,200 slot machines, 85 gaming tables, race and sports books, poker, and keno. The facilities also include about 2,650 hotel rooms, live entertainment, convention space, and several restaurants. In addition, the properties collectively own and manage three gas station/convenience stores, a Starbucks outlet, and one California Lottery lotto store. Primm Casinos is a subsidiary of Herbst Gaming.
Herbst completed the $394 million purchase of the Primm Casinos from MGM MIRAGE in 2007.
The company is hurting from the effects of a dismal economy, and high gasoline prices in 2008 kept visitors from Southern California from making the drive on Interstate 15 to reach the casinos. Primm Casinos subsequently began giving away free nights at its hotels to attract locals to its slots. In 2009 parent company Herbst filed for bankruptcy. – less
