Permanency questionable
Special Inspector / Discipline Lead Inspector (Former Employee), Portland, ORFebruary 25, 2015
With this company it is an environment that has the employee guessing as to whether or not there will be continuing work once finished with the one currently assigned to. There is in all actuality a lack of communication.

Engineering Technician (Former Employee), Corpus Christi, TXFebruary 4, 2015
Pros: great intellectual stimulation
Cons: payday was every 2 weeks
We started the day usually taking samples out of drying oven and weighing them and recording the weights. Calculations follow and the data is recorded in each jobs file. I learned how to classify soil and use a soils density machine along with a few different certifications. The Management was good people and a pleasure to have as a boss. I liked working there.

Can be fun at times, very unpredictable
Field Technician (Current Employee), Corpus Christi, TXApril 25, 2014
Pros: decent benefits
Cons: unpredictable
There is no typical at PSI. I have learned a variety of things. From make concrete cylinders and testing soils, to reading and understanding structural plans. I feel that management is okay, could be better. The hardest part of this job is that there is no set schedule. Everyday is different. Not sure.

Horrible place to work for
Quality Control (Former Employee), Orlando, FLOctober 15, 2013
Cons: managment
They are only worried about monthly numbers. It used to be a great place to work for, now it is all about corporate and their numbers. Management is horrible. Everyone good in Orlando has jumped ship.

Have not worked there in years, unfair to comment.
Engineering Technician (Former Employee), Pittsburgh, PAApril 8, 2013
Pros: advancement was possible for go-getters.
Cons: compensation wasn't easily attainable---you had to speak up.
I have not worked for this company in years. The company maintains a good reputation in their field, but as far as their Pittsburgh operations, I have no knowledge as to who is running the show, so it would not be an accurate assessment, because the management that was there when I worked there is no longer in charge.

Business Development Manager (Former Employee), Dallas, TXMarch 5, 2013
Pros: good policies and structure
Cons: bad upper management and low pay.
Potential to be a good company. They have some good intelligent people in the mid to lower management positions. However, management gets weaker the higher up you go in the company.

Branch Manager (Former Employee), Palm Desert, CAAugust 22, 2012
Pros: they are always looking for new help.
Cons: they have no morals or character.
This is a large cold hearted profit oriented company with very old fashioned and unprogressive management. The only way that they have managed to grow is by buying smaller successful companies and feeding of them and then destroying them. Their corporate attorney is the most dispicable, morally incorrect man in the business.

Summer job for college student, not career job type
Construction Materials Technician or QC/QA Tech (Former Employee), Shreveport, La.October 18, 2011
Pros: nice people to work with
Cons: low compensation, long crazy hours
The compensation is low, and the hours it takes to maintain food on the table will keep a man with a family from them. This is however great for high school kids or drop outs who have no idea what they want to do with their life maybe even some college kids could benefit from the strange hours it could offer a bit of spending cash to them but as for a career not likely at this place of business. The management does what it can to keep people but I believe their hands are tied. Maybe they are limited by corporate as to the compensation and benefits they can offer, which makes for a fast turn over at the location I worked in at least.

Mismanagement
Sr. Engineering Technician (Former Employee), Pittsburgh, PAOctober 17, 2011
The department I worked in had a lot of mismanagement with personnel and equipment. The level of professionalism was not to the level that I expected, it was disappointing for such a large company. It is a place to work if you have no drive or ambition to move up in the company.
