Productive and diverse job to work at
Customer Service Representative (Current Employee) –  Cleveland, OHAugust 22, 2017
On a typical day you receive up to 75 calls a day related to insurance questions, policy issues or billing problems. Throughout my career there I've learned how to deal with difficult customers, how to overcome problems, as well as how to educate customers and coworkers about insurance. The hardest part of job is letting the customers know that there's nothing you can do to lower their bills or when you're unable to resolve an issue for the customer right away. However, the most enjoyable part of the job is being able to help the customer and making their day.
Pros
Helping resolve problems, making people happy, work environment
Cons
short breaks, angry customers

You don't matter
IT Systems Engineer (Former Employee) –  Mayfield Village, OHAugust 21, 2017
Management is full racist managers and will only pay attention to you if you s*ck up to them. They will roll the departments 180 degrees and will destroy it. Upper management is full of cr*p. Yes, there are great benefits and decent pay. Also, HR only cares about the company not you. Be careful what you say to them.

Great Company with great benefits
Sales (Current Employee) –  Mayfield Village, OHAugust 17, 2017
Progressive is a great company to work for and has many avenues for advancement if you are willing to work for them. Each supervisor is different and has different rules that you should abide by and different supervisors will tell you to do one thing and then the next week tell you to do the other.
Pros
Great campus, mostly friendly people
Cons
Insane call volume

AMD Claims Representative (Former Employee) –  Wyoming, MIAugust 17, 2017
I enjoyed my time working at Progressive. They have fantastic training and opportunity to move up if you live in the right location. They do have some unrealistic work/life expectations that made the job easier to leave.

A Very Open Culture
IT Systems Engineer (Former Employee) –  Mayfield Village, OHAugust 16, 2017
A fun and exciting place to work. The culture is what you make it. Management is a bit disorganized with flexibility. Inclusive environment and very straight forward. The benefits are excellent!
The only real con is movement within the company; it doesn't seem very skill-based and your one-on-one's can be misleading times.
Pros
Inclusive, fun work environment with great benefits.
Cons
Management flexibility and transparency

Insurance Sales Agent (Current Employee) –  Mayfield Village, OH 44143August 13, 2017
Progressive is a great place to work for professionals starting their career. Less than ideal for experienced managers.

I work four days a week, 10 hours per day. This is difficult because I am on the phones with customers constantly. There is little time between calls.
Pros
Training
Cons
Lower in advancement opportunities than most companies.

insurance agent (Current Employee) –  Austin, TXAugust 7, 2017
This is the WORST company I have ever worked for,
Training was horrible! 4-5 people failed out and got fired because the trainers had no clue what they were doing! they say its the best company to work for but its really the best company FOR MICROMANAGING! everything you do is wrong here! managers definitely play favorites and once they don't like you, they will do anything to get you out!!! don't fall for it! they are horrible here
Pros
nice benefits
Cons
Micromanagement, Favortisim

Stressful
Claims Adjuster (Former Employee) –  Memphis, TNAugust 7, 2017
Unrealistic workflow expectations. You are told in the interview that you may need to stay late from time to time, but you soon discover that staying late often is the ONLY WAY to manage the volume. Leadership commends associates who work until 8 or 9pm despite their shift ending at 5 or 6pm. Even an associate who has been in the role for several years and with the company 15 years often works until 8-9pm and on weekends to avoid being written up or possible termination. Leadership leaves at the end of their shift and you have to decide what "the best thing for you" is. Advancement is available for different roles because people want to get out of that job and it's demands. The Claims Adjuster position is kind of a bottom of the barrel spot.
Pros
Relationship with team members.
Cons
Stressful and unfulfilling!

Jack of many trades
Insurance Rep (Former Employee) –  Somewhere USAAugust 7, 2017
It used to be a great place to work. When the company's main focus shifted from providing excellent customer service to being totally consumed matrix numbers that fail to measure any attributes that made the company successful, employee morale went out the window as well.
Pros
biweekly pay, gainshare
Cons
Tuition reimbursement is offered however, only a few of management staff posses formal education and knowledge needed to do the job correctly!
