The Promontory Conservancy is proud to announce its new collaboration with Wild Aware Utah (WAU), a non-advocacy conservation program which provides proactive education to minimize conflict between people and wildlife. WAU was founded by Hogle Zoo in 2009, and has since partnered with the Utah Division of Wildlife Resources (DWR), the Wildlife Protection Society (WPS), and Utah State University (USU) in its efforts to educate individuals and communities about living harmoniously with wildlife habitats. Promontory's unique vision includes the promise of a lifestyle grounded in exciting outdoor recreation that also cultivates a true respect for nature and a genuine stewardship of its land.
The Promontory Conservancy, as the environmental guardian for Promontory, is governed by important covenants which allow it to act as a steward for all types of life in residential areas of the community, in areas of dedicated open space, and along our trails. The goal of the Conservancy's partnership with WAU is to create increased community awareness of wildlife, to promote education about animals which may be encountered at Promontory, and to help create new habits to living in harmony with the wildlife which was, after all, here first. The Conservancy wants all Promontory owners to be able to take advantage of WAU's extraordinary resources, including attending meetings, having direct contact with their experts, and having the latest information available. The Promontory Conservancy will soon be implementing an online Q&A service for Promontory homeowners where owners will be able to submit questions about wildlife sightings and interaction and receive answers from WAU. Information will be forthcoming in weekly e-blasts and on the Promontory website regarding the Q&A feature and other special programs and services offered by WAU for Promontory owners.
