Loan Approval Specialist for San Francisco-based Financial Services Company

Position Overview:
The ideal candidate:

  • Thrives in a fast-paced, customer-oriented, production environment, where the potential to wear many different hats exist
  • Must be a self-starter with the ability to work independently within set guidelines
  • Understands the need to achieve monthly production goals without sacrificing quality
  • Have the ability to change priorities quickly as time-sensitive needs arise, and are able to adapt to a fluctuating workflow, particularly during periods of high loan volume
  • They remain calm, courteous and focused when dealing with impending deadlines
  • Is used to evaluating the accuracy of information presented either orally or via documentation
  • Is committed to providing exceptional service to borrowers in a professional manner at the same time safeguarding the interests of both lenders and Prosper
  • Comfortable asking customers to verify personal and financial information
  • Is able to communicate clearly, both verbally and in writing
  • Displays a pleasant, friendly demeanor with internal and external customers
  • Has demonstrated the ability to multi-task while placing and receiving phone calls
  • Understands the consistency, accuracy and detail-orientation required in a federally-regulated institution through prior financial services experience
  • Open to constructive criticism and willing to learn from errors
  • The typical work week is 40-hours and is paid an hourly wage. However, they must be willing and able to work overtime during periods of peak loan volume


  • 2+ years of related experience (loans, disputes processing or fraud prevention)
  • Critical thinking, strong attention to detail, organizational skills and demonstrated ability to be highly accurate
  • Ability to work a M-F 8-5 schedule, this could change down the road based on business needs – some overtime and weekend work likely
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are an absolute must
  • Professional, proactive and solution-oriented
  • Demonstrated ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously, shift priorities quickly and work in a deadline driven environment
  • Must be flexible and ready to work in a dynamic shift environment
  • Excel, Word, Outlook proficient
  • Experience navigating web-based applications
  • Must be able to work with confidential information

Bonus Points for:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Prior financial services industry experience, esp. risk management experience
  • Prior call center experience
  • Prior experience with software
  • Experience with process improvement
