Protection One, Inc. (Protection One) is a national provider of electronic security alarm monitoring services, providing installation, maintenance and electronic monitoring of alarm systems to single-family residential, commercial, multifamily and wholesale customers. The Company monitor signals originating from alarm systems designed to detect burglary, – more... fire, medical, hold-up and environmental conditions, and from access control and closed-circuit-television (CCTV) systems. Most of its monitoring services revenue and a large portion of the maintenance services it provides its customers are governed by multi-year contracts with automatic renewal provisions that provide the Company with recurring monthly revenue (RMR). As of December 31, 2008, Protection One monitored approximately 1.8 million sites. The Company conducts its business through three operating segments: Retail, Wholesale and Multifamily.
