When I started at Proteus it was a truly inspiring place to work. They were taking chances that few others were willing to and finding success that others couldn't. The attitude and culture emphasized professionalism and drive.
The change was extremely gradual. The first year or more was great. Then lunches for BOF sessions stopped being catered. I could accept that, but then they forced us to attend company events on our time. At the end of the year we received poor reviews because we took vacation and failed to work for unpaid overtime. At first I heard of a few good developers leave. Then a lot left. I knew that things were really bad when good, longtime Management and HR staff left. Overtime it had become a very unpleasant place to work at.
