About PUBLIC EMPLOYEES RETIREMENT SYSTEM
Since 1935, OPERS has meant retirement security and peace of mind to millions of the state's retired public workers and their families, and we all play a critical role in supporting and sustaining Ohio.
OPERS is the fiduciary to hundreds of thousands of current public workers who pay into the fund every pay period for their pension benefits and health – more... care coverage. We offer retirement security to our retirees, who receive benefit payments each month. As such, OPERS is a catalyst to Ohio's economy, annually infusing more than $5 billion in benefit payments throughout the state. For the state's taxpayers, OPERS is a return on investment more than doubling every dollar of their contributions.
We expect this vital service to significantly increase in the future. We currently provide monthly benefits to about 180,000 retirees, disability recipients and surviving beneficiaries. We forecast that number to increase to 225,000 recipients in 10 years and to 280,000 by 2023.
What won't change is who our members are - the people who work hard every day for the citizens of Ohio - and our commitment as a fiduciary to our members, retirees and employers. – less – More from ZoomInfo »
