Every Publix Super Market is a multi-million dollar enterprise that offers rewarding career paths and exciting earnings potential. Each of our more than 1,000 stores is staffed with an average of 130 associates, providing extensive employment opportunities.
Nearly 3,000 corporate associates work behind the scenes to support our stores, our distribution centers, and our manufacturing plants. Most of them are based at our corporate headquarters in Lakeland, Florida, but several hundred are on field support teams that work in the five states in which we operate.
When most people think of Publix, they think of our stores. But to keep our stores well-supplied with quality products, Publix is also a manufacturing company. From purchasing the supplies to making products to printing the advertisements that promote them, our Manufacturing business unit gets the ball rolling for many of the company's operations. Our associates feel a great deal of pride when they see Publix manufactured products in our stores.
Fulfilling the orders of more than 1,000 stores is a daunting task. That challenge is met every day by over 5,900 associates in various departments of the Publix business unit we call Distribution. Distribution has approximately 8 million square feet of warehouse space used to receive, store, and ship more than 660 million cases of over 31,000 items each year. Distribution Centers are located in Boynton Beach, FL; Deerfield Beach, FL; Jacksonville, FL; Lakeland, FL; Lawrenceville, GA; Miami, FL; Orlando, FL; Sarasota, FL.
Currently there are more than 820 Publix Pharmacies and we open as many as 50 new ones each year, proof of the company's commitment to providing pharmacy services in our stores. With our focus on people, both associates and customers, we have established an award-winning pharmacy operation. – less
