The grocery store day
Cashier (Former Employee), Fort Myers, FLNovember 14, 2014
Pros: employee of the month
Cons: schedule
Almost everyday was the same you came in counted your till and and worked the cash register. I learned so many things how to keep a smile and how to deal with customers and co-workers on a daily basis and leave all my problems at home. The management were great they were very understanding when it came to personal and business life and for that I will – more... always appreciate publix. My
co-workers were alot to deal beacuse most of the time I was working with teenagers, who are still in high school and they did not have a care in the world, which I did learn to deal with them and we got along great and they were sad to see me leave. I really did not like leveling the store at night but I have to say I was pretty good at and made sure we got out of that place on time almost every night when I closed. The parties they would have for employees would be great and I miss that the most because they showed appreciate to there employees. – less

Had to have discipline to work here.
Stock Clerk (Former Employee), Montgomery, ALNovember 14, 2014
Pros: weekly pay
Cons: some 13 or 14 hour shifts
I was a stock clerk. I stocked groceries and some times would help bag if lines were long. I mostly learned time management and discipline because we had to had groceries up in a matter of time to get everything done in the day. Management was hands on for the most part which made it easy to learn the way they wanted everything to be. The whole stock – more... crew was a team we helped each other if someone was lacking. The hardest part was working while customers were in the store because they are priority at publix so we had to work around them which sometimes made us fall behind schedule. The most enjoyable part was getting paid every week and it being good pay which made the work worth it. – less

The week after completely different sechedule but the same crazy hours then you pick up your check you find out you are still broke but – more... never home ... Just think when your 55 years old still be working to midnight and then waking up early in the morning ... If you want to be a manager you will be working 10 12 hours days ... There is nothing to look forward with this company ... Only thing they make you want to do is keep looking for another job.... What I make here is how much I made 20 years ago training for my position .... Figure that out.... Up to two years ago before I took this job I was home everyday no later then five pm now I'll be home 12 in the morning ... I wouldn't send my worst enemy to work here it is hororable. And the people that think it's ok to work like that are the people that have worked for Publix for 10 15 years....poor people are brained washed by Publix .. They will tell you they care about you and your family when you first join there Publix team then come to find out they can care less about you and your well being ... Oh yea while trying to figure everyday when your working you better not be late cause the store will blow up and you will get fired .... You have three minutes after that your late ... Not like they can say you work 8 to five everyday there is no reason to be late but your all over the place in your life you don't know when dinner time I s or bedtime ..your life sechedule is so screwed up you will be getting sick at least five to ten times a year ... People always calling out and getting sick ... Oh yea good luck if you have kids you better hire a full time Nannie cause you are going to need her when working here ... Good luck your going to need when working here lol I can't wait to finish school and forget I ever worked for these scam artist.. – less

Publix used to be "where working is a pleasure"
Stock Clerk (Former Employee), Kendall, FLNovember 12, 2014
Pros: stock and quarterly bonuses
Cons: everything else
Publix has no concept of focusing on the REAL HARD WORKING employees.
Management, all managers current and new should go through a physcological exam to prove they are ready for management. there are countless managers that abuse there power and get away with many wrong doings

there really is no good coming from publix unless you know someone that – more... can pull you up or "extend a hand" per say

Pros: stock in first 3 months given to us
Cons: none so far just a long drive now that i have moved.
Great place to work but am on the DL but can still work, They won't let me work because I can;t wear my support boot for my broken foot.
I have also moved to Duncan and a long drive. I like my manager, he is a great trainer and understanding. The people you work with are great and talking to customers.

An uncomfortable work environment
DELI CLERK (Current Employee), Atlanta, GANovember 10, 2014
It is a work environment that needs managerial improvement. The managers in my department never agreed on anything. One manager always over rode the other. There was no balance. The workers in the department were not treated the same way either. Over all the customers were amazing and somewhat understanding when it came to rush hour around their lunch – more... breaks. – less

Pros: benefits are good if you can stick it out for 3 years

for the amount of work they give you the pay is terrible and unappreciated as the management team is very rude and mean to everyone in that department

Great for a first timer
Quality Control Laboratory Technician (Current Employee), Deerfield Beach, FLNovember 7, 2014
Pros: free lunch, benefits, paid vacation
Cons: no sense of community
This is a wonderful place to be introduced into the manufacturing industry. Excellent training plans for the QC and productions areas. I have held 2 positions. I started in the QC as a Lab Tech. One year experience swabbing and product testing. I wanted a more well rounded experience and spoke with my manager and was suggested to move into production. – more... I am currently a fluid filling operator. They promote from within and nurture their employees careers. – less
