I worked as a part-time office assistant.
Office Assistant (Former Employee), West Lafayette, IN –
Pros: worked well with my school schedule.
Cons: none.
This was to be a three month temporary job, but the department liked my work and hired me for a long-term position. Unfortunately, the department is in need of someone who can commit to a full-time position right now, and I am unable to do so with classes. I left the department on great terms this month. In a given day, I helped other staff members – more...  with data entry, mailings, filing, marketing research, emails to students, and phone assistance. There were many guidelines to follow with student documentation and deadlines, but it was a great job. – less

Fun Summer Job
Student Landscaper (Former Employee), West Lafayette, IN –
Pros: great management, ample breaks
Cons: temporary job
I spent a summer landscaping the Purdue University Residence halls. I was a lot of hard work and a lot of fun. I gave me some experience working in a large group that mainly set the schedule ourselves. My manager was very hands off. He gave us weekly tasks and let us be to do our jobs. The hardest part of the job was working with so many opinions with – more...  little leadership. The most enjoyable part of the job was learning to work in that type of environment. – less

A good place for research
Graduate Research assistant (Current Employee), West Lafayette –
As a graduate student of molecular and cancer biology. Purdue offers good training for basic science. However, due to the lack of medical school in Purdue, translational research is unfavorable.

Enjoy what I do and the interaction with diverse cultures
Payroll Clerk (Current Employee), West Lafayette, IN –
As the economy stretches to its limits so does the economy and budget for the learning industry. Cuts from government funding are hurting all the university and causing a land slide effect. The strive for more effeciency with less is making for a very stressful and painful envioronment.

Lab Assistant (Current Employee), Hammond, IN –
Required to assist students in analyzing and conducting research using SPSS and the GSS dataset. Most awarding aspect was when the figurative light bulb went on and could see they understood the processes of research.

Typical life of a graduate research assistant
Graduate Research Assistant (Former Employee), West Lafayette, IN-47907 –
Compensation at par or lower than other comparative grad schools but expenditures are increasing making life tough for grad students particularly those with families.

Broadcast Technician (Former Employee), Hammond, In –
Pros: plenty of time for homework, interesting environment.
Cons: can become boring from lack of varied activities.
My job at Purdue was perfect for my needs. The only problem I had working there was that I couldn't continue after I graduated.

Undergraduate Research Assistant (Current Employee), West Lafayette, IN –
Pros: friendly people, direct deposit paychecks, places of living are close and easy to find
Working as and undergraduate doing research, this has been a tremendous place to work. The management is great, they direct deposit my paycheck quickly after receiving my time card. The people in my lab are willing to help when assistance is needed, and they are easy to get along with.
