Fun workplace. Ability to grow.
Pros: Free range balls, cheap rounds of golf, discounts on merchandise, etc.
Cons: Seasonal job, no benefits.
Working at the Birck Boilermaker Golf Complex has been, and still is a very rewarding experience for anybody looking to gain experience in the golf industry. I've learned so much in regards to how courses operate on a daily basis and not to mention, you are working under one of the best PGA professionals in the country. The typical day at work involves handling carts, cleaning them, helping set up events if there are any scheduled for the day, making sure things like sand bottles and divots are filled on the course, greeting and helping golfers coming out to play the course, picking the Range, etc. Management are very personable, easy to work with, while making sure you stay busy as much as possible. The hardest part of the job would probably be the long periods of standing and walking that you have to do daily but it's good exercise and you become more used to it in time. The most enjoyable part of the job is talking with all the golfers starting their rounds and finishing their rounds and listening to their stories. Definitely a fun, rewarding experience as I mentioned for someone like myself, who are working towards getting a job in the golf industry.
