Paid decent, hard on your body, weird schedule
Finishing Technician (Former Employee), Hartford, WI – May 9, 2013
Pros: decent pay and benefits
Cons: repetitive work, 12-hour rotating shifts
I helped in the finishing department and basically loaded machines with paper products all day for 12-hour shifts. I had to assure the quality of the product and align it perfectly into the machine. This is where I learned about the printing industry. I wasn't too fond of the work but the co-workers were just fine. I did enjoy learning new tricks on – more... how to make my job and those of others easier. – less

Productive Place to work, in a relaxed enviroment
Finishing Technician (Current Employee), Evans, GA – April 13, 2013
Pros: immediate health benifits, working an e.o.w.e.o. style schedule lets you spend good quality time with my family, overtime is available too
Cons: short breaks, sometimes my work schedule is altered by mandatory days off due to lack of work, the pay could be a little better, but these days i am thankful to having a job, it seems to take to long to get hired on permanatly
I actually work for a long term temporary agency at Quad Graphics.A typical day at work is a 12 hour shift, mostly standing on your feet, but it is fast paced at times.
I haven't been work there long but, but I try my best to watch the advanced operators as close as possible to learn how things operate and what to do if it breaks down.
The management – more... of the company seems to be okay I haven't met many of them. Our shift recently swapped over to day shift. Our immediate supervision and lead staff are very courteous and willing to teach. The hardest part of the job is the standing up for the whole shift. The most enjoyable part of the job is seeing the end of a particular job get finished, and the start of a new one. – less

Co-workers are Nice job security is volitile
Digital Media Contractor (Former Employee), New York, NY – March 30, 2013
Cons: contract stability is volitile
Quad Graphics as a company is nicely situated in Manhattan, everyone is really friendly there. While working there for the few months that I did I learned a lot about augmented reality. The work setting is very fast paced and doesn't leave much time to learn certain advanced skill sets

Business Area Leader (Current Employee), Charlotte, NC – March 18, 2013
Pros: large company with great benefits

$5 Billion company that a great deal to offer. They concentrate a great deal on their printing and not so much on their logisitcs that could add an entirely new level to their vision.

Productive fun place to work
Production Team Member-Material Handler (Former Employee), Richmond, VA – March 14, 2013
Pros: snack machines
Cons: short breaks
Usual Quad Graphics is a fun place to work. I've learned the printing business. I am now a material handler. Management was very well. Co workers helped me out alot and we were all good friends. Working 12 hour shifts but u got to work to feed your family. My favorite part of the job was working with people and learning the business.

Finishing Technician/ Press Department Operator (Former Employee), Martinsburg, WV – March 7, 2013
Pros: occasional free lunches
Cons: pay and long rotating shifts
Long 12 hour rotating shifts, pay is low starting out, co-workers are somewhat friendly. The hardest part of job was constantly moving on feet on concrete floor wearing required steel toe shoes

Martinsburg WV Plant
Analyst (Former Employee), Martinsburg, WV – March 1, 2013
Pros: great people, very poor work life balance "eat on own time..."
Cons: don't trust leadership in times of peril (very reactive, not proactive)
Great leaders, and great people, but a few rotten apples spoil the bunch. The business strives to make employees feel the culture is family oriented, but fails to live up to its standards.

If you are unfortunate to enough to work at the Martinsburg Book Plant, you will quickly realize there are no tools, processes, or a plans to make it better.

You – more... can't help but feel book printing is a dying platform. The business is going to change in 3-5 yrs.

You should strongly think about your long term plans when accepting a position here.

The PD has no emotional intelligence, and is ruled by 'the now.' – less

Quad Graphics, a productive and postive place to work.
Production Assembler - Feeder\Mailer (Former Employee), Jonesboro, AR – February 22, 2013
Pros: wages
Cons: short breaks
I had over all good work family at Quad Graphics. The management treated me as family. Enjoyed working with the operators, co-workers,& foreman. The hardest part of the job at times was the lifting, but that was not every day. I learned how finish books for the customers and working busy the day would go by faster. The Christmas parties for the children – more... and the togetherness was what I enjoyed. – less

Maintenance Technician - Machinist / Mechanic (Current Employee), Jonesboro, AR – February 12, 2013
Pros: good healthcare, dental/vision, and 401k.
Cons: 12 hour shifts, continuously rotating schedule.
I took calls on breakdowns and did p.m in my slow time. I worked on a lot of different things. Learned something new every time I worked on a new piece of equipment. Management in the plant was good to work for, got along with all co-workers, and the hardest part of the job was working in tight places. I enjoy doing anything that has to do with mechanical – more... equipment! – less
