Mortgage Banker (Former Employee) –  Detroit, MIOctober 15, 2017
Great company if you aren't a Mortgage Banker. If you do go into banking, expect 60+ hour work weeks and heavy deadlines. Lots of interesting and wonderful co-workers, but no time to actually do anything outside of work. You are expected to give clients your personal cell phone number.

Great place to work when you are single. Hours are 60+ easy and most weekends.
If you do well you are paid well, but the hours are not worth it when you have a family.

I would go days without seeing my 1.5yr old daughter and no money is worth that
Pros
Fun culture and good people
Cons
hours and stress

Mortgage Banker (Former Employee) –  Cleveland, OH 44113October 11, 2017
Co-workers were great, a very young and competitive atmosphere. Management really pushed you to be on the phone constantly. Pay is good if not great and great benefits too.

Power Banker (Former Employee) –  Detroit, MIOctober 9, 2017
Simply the best job you can get in Michigan without any other previous qualifications or a college degree. Very stressful long hours. If you can hang in there it'll be well worth it, but it is difficult.

Sales Consultant (Former Employee) –  Scottsdale, ArizonaOctober 7, 2017
I was there for 16 plus years, enjoyed it until the end. I made ONLY one error handling an irate client. I was transferred to Operations where I had no experience and was discharged after only one month. I was set up to fail.
Pros
Income, benefits, perks and many more to list
Cons
Treated as a number with no emotions

Document Specialist (Former Employee) –  Detroit, MIOctober 5, 2017
The company was okay the people that they put in charge of you are not very skilled people or compassionate. I had a death in the family supervisor called in the middle of funeral to ask if I was coming to work. If you are single this is a good place to work cause they want you there forever.
Pros
discounts, passes
Cons
You never know when you might go in and just get let go

Closing (Former Employee) –  Detroit, MIOctober 3, 2017
I loved working here. Lots of great perks and great culture. It became very corporate over the last five years or so and it is not the same atmosphere but still a great place to work.

Very fun! You can receive great perks with this company and they love their employees. They provide a great customer management system. I was an intern, but I felt like a real employee

Mortgage Banker I (Former Employee) –  Detroit, MIOctober 3, 2017
Was a great place to work with a great cultural but it is not for everyone especially being in mortgage banking. If you aren't prepared to dive right into and give it your life then it is definitely not for you at least long term.
Pros
Benefits, compensation, free training, culture
Cons
Demanding, high stress, high paced, many hours

I was not there long enough to give a proper review. It was a temporary job to fill my time while I was waiting to hear from Wells Fargo. It was fun while I was there.

Director or Mortgage Banking (Former Employee) –  Detroit, MIOctober 2, 2017
The Training and Culture are excellent. Hours were very demanding. It was a highly competitive place to work in the mortgage banking field but was also rewarding on multiple levels.

A typical day at QL is 12+ hours with the expectation to participate in social events after work. You will work 6 days a week including weekends and holidays.

Income was great. Average work hours were very high 60 was about minimum. Family life will be virtually impossible. It's a shame because at 40 hour work weeks would be a great place.

Mortgage Loan Originator; Underwriter (Former Employee) –  Detroit, MISeptember 28, 2017
Quicken Loans was a good company to work for if you are young with no family or no life really outside of their work environment. There was not a very strong work/life balance for the mortgage bankers because there was a very high demand for production goals to be met. However, there was lots of free food, and fun activities.
Pros
free food, good compensation, friendly, energizing work enviorment
Cons
long hours, high demand to meet production goals

Purchase Title Coordinator (Former Employee) –  Detroit, MISeptember 27, 2017
Working at Quicken had its perks at first, but they fade fast. Now it's not just QL, it's the whole industry. The stress can eat you up depending on the job there.

Great Company BUT Capricious
Employee (Current Employee) –  Detroit, MISeptember 25, 2017
Downtown Detroit presence, laid back culture, tons of perks, great benefits, tons of career opportunities, innovative, perfect for the millennials that are seeking opportunities that would be challenging at a corporate entity; HOWEVER, if you're seeking a stable work environment and a company that operates proactively instead of reactively, then steer free!
