Very professional environment
Greeting/Customer Service (Former Employee), Davie, FL – May 17, 2013
Pros: great pay, we could drink all the coffee, sodas, and frozen drinks we wanted
RaceTrac was my very first job that I love. I love greeting the customers and getting to know the regulars. My typical day consist of giving out excellent customer service. Maintaining the cleanliness of the store both inside and out. Merchandising of the products when we received a new shipment and when we ran out of products. I loved my co-workers, – more... we was one big family, at least on my shift we got along great. All days went by smooth with the great management team that we had at the time. I believe the hardest part of the job when I first got started at RaceTrac was keeping the customers calm and patience when all the pumps decided to go down during rush hour which was always our busiest times. – less

Decent job, but hypocritical practices
Associate (Former Employee), Plano, TX – May 14, 2013
Pros: decent pay for easy work.
Cons: very political in promoting from within, if at all. bennefits for associates are a waste of money, while management's bennefits are quite good.
While an easy job with great potential, the claims they will give to prospective hires of wanting to promote internally are less than half-truths. Less than half of the management positions are filled from within and the FastTrac program is in place and designed exclusively for hiring people with previous experience straight into store management.

hands-on manager (Former Employee), Avondale, LA – May 14, 2013
I've learned so much from working with this company. the only thing I really didn't like is the schedule that that swing manager had and it was getting in the way of me doing things for school and my kid

Non stop work flies!
Associate (Former Employee), Melissa, TX – April 30, 2013
Pros: getting to know guests (regulars)
Cons: no breaks
A day at RaceTrac is simply cleaning and customer service. If you can do both, you're fit for the job!

Flexible hours, with very good pay and benefits
associate (Former Employee), Palm Coast, Fl – April 25, 2013
Pros: good pay, clean environment
Cons: no breaks
A typical day at work was shift chores and cashiering, along with just generally keeping the store clean and organized. I learned a lot about how slushies/icee were made and how the machines worked. I also learned a lot about the Florida Lottery systems, including scratch offs. Management was ALWAYS available to help if there were any questions or problems – more... during your shift. Co-workers had to be sanitary and have a positive attitude, which I enjoyed. the hardest part of the job was having to deal with irate customers who would not follow instructions on the gasoline pumps so I would have to go outside (sometimes almost get run over) in order to work the machines for them. The most enjoyable part of the job was being able to enjoy the leftover sample food and products before putting them out for customers. – less

Racetrac as a whole
Corporate 1089 Manager (Current Employee), Citrus/Hernando/Pasco County – April 20, 2013
Pros: internal promoting
Cons: not family oriented and standing during entire shift
Racetrac is a good company. Working constantly to make our guests shopping experience the best it can be, developing ourselves to advance with the company and learning ways to make money for the company.

Employees are hired part time in most cases however, most are very young with little or no job experience and have tendencies to call out frequently.

Standing – more... on my feet 48 plus hours a week is very wearing on the body, with no place to sit and no breaks. They also don't seem family friendly when it comes to manager schedules.

Their benefits are good and they understand when you are sick and need time off, plus they will work with you regarding a day or two off when you give them a few weeks advance notice. – less

Vibrant
Sales Associate (Former Employee), Fairburn, GA – April 12, 2013
Pros: the amount of money, the amount of hours, and all the drinks you want
Cons: no breaks and no free food
Most days were very energetic and filled with excitement. When I get there, I would clock in and verify my cash register before I began my shift. Then i would check behind the shift before me to see what they were able to do during their shift, and what needed to be done. Then I would begin working on those things while the rest of my crew members got – more... ready to start their shift. I would help my crew members with checking out the guest, when they needed me, but I also enjoyed cleaning and stocking. I had to change the coffee, check the restroom, stock utensils, and check the freshly served product. I learned a lot of patience with this job and how to tolerate irritable guest. I really enjoyed the people that I worked with and the growth that we made while working together. – less

Very long and demanding hours, worked all holidays and not quite the work and family balance one desires.
Night Manager (Former Employee), Gretna, LA – March 28, 2013
Working the night shift was essential because it normally set the tone for the next day. Inventory acccuracy was important, the cleaniness and sanitation of the store was important for good customer service. Fuel trucks and other vendors generally made their stops during the night shift. The entire day's accounting was summarized and submitted during – more... this shift.

I really learned time management. The morning rush started like clock work each and every morning. Therefore, all required tasks needed to be completed in a timely manner.

Management certainly could have used some management training at the highest level. I really enjoyed the majority of my co-workers and a great deal of the customers. Most were regulars who knew you by name.

The hardest part of the job was trying to get the relieving shift to show up on time to relieve you. There were no lunch breaks and no sitting down. The most enjoyable part was getting paid weekly and time spent away from it. – less

Not the worst but definitely not the best
Third shift Leader/Manager (Former Employee), Atlanta, Ga – March 26, 2013
Pros: bonuses
Cons: hours, manager change procedures.
Anything goes wrong, they primarily put the blame on third shift. At the location I was at, the two primary managers that were suppose to do order truck every couple of days, apparently couldn't do it correctly. We wouldn't have what we were out of but we would have more of what we didn't need. Lack of support from corporate.

Fun people but hypocritical management
Co-Manager (Former Employee), Orlando, FL – March 24, 2013
Pros: meeting new people all the time and the benefits
Cons: no break, long hours
A typical day at work would be placing orders, assigning associates to specific zones, cleaning and guest service. Higher management was tricky to deal with because they are very hypocritical with how Company Core Values are followed. The hardest part of the day was going and spending an hour in the freezer doing inventory and orders. My favorite part – more... of the day was developing my associates and dealing with guests. – less

Going nowhere fast
Cashier/Associate (Current Employee), Douglasville, GA – March 13, 2013
Pros: weekly pay check, free coffee
Cons: not enough hours, poor management, only promote friends or people who suck up
You will not survive as an associate and you will barely have your head above water if you are a manager. Store managers have it pretty good though.

Sales Associate (Current Employee), Spring Hill, FL – March 6, 2013
Pros: great pay, friendly co workers
Cons: no breaks
This is a great place to work if you want a part time job or move up in the company. All the managers are super friendly and always looking to help associates move up in the company.

Fun Is What You Make It
Night Manager (Former Employee), Baton Rouge, LA – February 20, 2013
A typical day at work is usually fun and surprising. You never know what's gonna happen or who's gonna walk through the door. The Night Manager position help me learn the true issues a manager has to go through. Although, the District Managers can treat their employees better and listen to them, I believe things would run smoother.
