The Radford University Foundation, a 501(c)3 nonprofit, is seeking an experienced accountant for the position of Controller. This senior-level position manages and oversees the support of finance and accounting services activities for the Foundation and reports directly to the Executive Director.
The Controller plans, organizes, directs and evaluates the fiscal and administrative finance and accounting operations of the Foundation. Specific areas of responsibility include accounting, audit, accounts payable (disbursements), budgeting, finance, investment and property accounting, cash management, reconciliations, compliance, reporting, policy and procedures. This professional will prepare and present financial reports for the Board of Directors and the Executive Director, and will collaborate closely with Foundation and University staff to advance the mission of the Foundation.
The successful candidate will have a bachelor's degree in a related field and at least six years of related experience, including at least two years of supervisory experience. Advanced experience with Excel is required. Experience in a university or university-affiliated foundation in a financial management function and knowledge of non-profit general ledger systems, budgeting, financial reporting is preferred. CPA certification is desired. Experience with SunGuard Banner and IBM Cognos is a plus.
