Working at Rasmussen College

As I prepare to begin teaching another quarter at Rasmussen College in Mankato, I am compelled to put forth a point of view that does not seem to be shared widely by others in this forum. My experience at Rasmussen College has been overwhelmingly positive. Before I get into some of those positive experiences, let me establish a few facts: Rasmussen College is regionally accredited by the same accrediting agency that accredits other colleges and universities in and around Mankato, including Minnesota State University, Mankato; Bethany Lutheran College; South Central College; and Gustavus Adolphus College. I for one take pride in that hard-earned designation. In contrast to public colleges, private colleges like Rasmussen College do have higher tuition rates because they do not receive governmental support. Any fair comparison of tuition would compare Rasmussen College to other private colleges. In contrast to many other higher education institutions, Rasmussen College is classified as a career college. As such, it is mandated to take attendance. The neat thing is that Rasmussen College turns that requirement into a positive by using attendance as a tool used in conjunction with other tools (grades, for instance) to identify and help struggling students. Some of the things I enjoy about working at Rasmussen College include: Student focus. Faculty and staff meetings focus on how we can better serve students. Class size. Even with campus growth, classes are intentionally kept small. My co-workers. I have the luxury of working with motivated, dedicated faculty, staff, and administration. An organization that wants me to succeed. Rasmussen College allowed me to teach my online and residential classes remotely while I experienced a unique culutral event. I had a poor hiring experience with Rasmussen. I applied for an admission rep position and got a call from the corporate recruiter. I am totally qualified for this position but a week later got a rejection letter. So I called and even e-mailed them for an idea what they were looking for and what was I missing that would have benefited me for this or any other job. I was very polite and nice about it.I saw they have once again reposted the position so that's why I was wondering how to convience them to look again at me. No response no answer no resturn nothing. For a business school they don't get it.No I have a bad taste in my mouth for Rasmussen and my son is going to MN School of Business and I will steer all his friends away from that school. If this is how they handle possible employees and possible students they don't come off well as a business school.I think maybe they did me a favor but not very professional if you ask me.
