About RECO Equipment, Inc.
RECO Equipment, Inc. was organized and founded in 1983 by Robert E. Hathaway, our current president. The company was the successor to the Morristown, Ohio operation of The W. W. Williams Co. of Columbus, Ohio. Many of the original 25 employees of W. W. Williams remain as employees of RECO Equipment, Inc. Today RECO employs approximately 160 people at – more... nine different locations.
In late 1983, expansion of the original Morristown building was required to provide component rebuild area and additional office space. This was the first step of many major expansions to facilities and territories.
Originally, the only major account handled by RECO was TEREX Corporation. In late 1983, RECO became the dealer for the International and WABCO/Haulpac divisions of Dresser Industries. These were the two main manufacturers for a number of years. With the addition of the Dresser line branch operations were opened in Columbus in 1985 and in Cincinnati in 1986. After continued growth, larger new facilities were built in Columbus in 1987 at the present Perimeter Drive location. The Cincinnati Branch was moved to a more central location in Monroe, Ohio in 1995. This expanded facility provides better access to both our Dayton and Cincinnati customers.
On January 1, 1994 RECO Equipment, Inc. acquired Bobcat of Pittsburgh, which was located in a single facility on the south side of Pittsburgh. The operation was moved to Cranberry Twp, Pennsylvania in April of 1994. In May of 1995, a Bobcat Branch was opened in Youngwood, Pennsylvania. Bobcat of Pittsburgh is run as an entirely separate operation.
Concurrently a RECO Equipment, Inc. branch was formed at the same Cranberry location that houses Bobcat of Pittsburgh. In 1996 a new and separate building was built to house RECO Equipment, Inc.'s Pennsylvania operation.
In October of 1997 RECO Equipment, Inc. purchased the assets of OTEC (Ohio Tractor Equipment Co.). OTEC had branches located in Hudson and Perrysburg, Ohio. This acquisition provided RECO Equipment, Inc. full coverage of all major trading areas in the state of Ohio. A new building was purchased in Richfield, Ohio and the Hudson operations were moved to the new facility in June of 1998.
In September of 1998 another Bobcat branch was opened in Canonsburg, Pennsylvania to serve Southern Allegheny and Washington county customers. Corporate headquarters in Morristown was also expanded in that same year to handle the increased administrative activity.
