Hostess (Former Employee), Hurst, TX –
Pros: free food
Cons: short breaks
Cleaning off menus, handing them out, making sure tables were empty so we could seat the right amount of guest, I learned to stay calm during stressful situations, management was nice. My co-workers were fun and worked hard and made my days pretty awesome. Hardest part was dealing with frustrated customers.

Amazing place to work, if it's a corporate RR store.
Dining Room Manager (Former Employee), Various Locations –
Working for Red Robin is amazing if it's not a franchise! If you work for a franchise, you run the risk of severe lack in standards.

Mid Manager/Server (Current Employee), Denver, CO –
Pros: good health benefits, free meal
Cons: short shifts, slow business
Red Robin was the place where I have worked since the age of 16. It was a perfect place to finish high school and go through college. They provide much room for advancement assuming you have the proper drive to do so.

Mid-Manager/Certified Designated Trainer/Server (Former Employee), Surprise, AZ –
Pros: discounts on food, family restaurant, lots of fun
I worked for over 6 1/2 years at Red Robin. I started as a server then moved up to Mid-Manager. This is one restaurant that your managers and GM stand behind you 100%. Great core Values fantastic company. If i did not move out of state I would definitely still be working for Red Robin.

Patience and hard work go hand in hand
Line Cook/ DMO (Former Employee), Spokane Valley, WA –
Pros: free meal per shift, fun environment, very flexible schedules
Cons: not enough hours sometimes, communication barriers with management
At first it was hard to fit in with Red Robin. I don't know if my trainer was having a bad day or what, but it seems like I had to start from scratch to earn respect with my co-workers and management. A typical day was clocking in, washing my hands (throughout my shift), and I would be notified if I were line-cooking or DMO for that shift. A lot of – more...  the time, I wouldn't be notified til the last minute to drop what I was doing to complete another task. That's expected no matter where you work though. I learned to have solid patience, especially when dinner rush is complete chaos. In this line of work, you have to be able to multi-task and focus on what you're doing. It's a domino effect, if you falter, everyone else does. The hardest part about the job was making plans after work and being an hour or two later after my shift ended. That's another aspect that I learned to get used to. When I was in DMO, I enjoyed giving my mind a break from reciepts and constant orders. When I was cooking, I enjoyed the whole cooking concepts like deep frying fish or assembling a chicken caesar wrap. I like the constant busy atmosphere, makes time go by quicker. Management was sometimes difficult to communicate with due to ego. I've learned to do your best under those circumstances and ask for advice from reputable colleagues. – less

expo/ server (Former Employee), Norton Shores, MI –
Pros: learn a lot about people, how saztined some products are, i meet new people
Cons: no breaks, sent home after showing upnever get called off, no benefits for part timers
if you were like a high schooler or a college kid, yeah red robin is the place you could go to make a living. but for someone who is trying to get on there feet. Not really. they have alot of strong values but they also play favorites and when you call them out on it they dein it. The main office doesn't really know what goes on in the local store themselves. – more...  It is like the saying while the cat is gone the mice will play kinda of thing. I may not have had a management position but I do have ears and eyes and I am quiet to the point where no one realizes I am there. So I have heard and seen enough that I won't go back working for that place unless I could be a regenal manager cause I would do surpirse visits all the time. However, I was the best at what I did and every time I go there the employee now still state that I need to go show them how it is done. – less

Red Robin good food, not so much to work
Busser (Former Employee), Portage, MI –
Red Robin is a great place to eat but not so much fun working their. You have long hours of standing on your feet and people are rude. The co-workers only want to get in and get out. Management is ok, they have their flaws, as all management does. The hardest part about working their was how rude the staff was to other employees.

Easy Job
Service Support (Former Employee), Charlotte, NC –
I would usually come in and open. Friendly coworkers and usually customers. Very easy to learn any duties/responsibilities. Management always respectful and friendly, easy to talk to about any issues. The hardest part of the job is when the restaurant would get busy.

Nice place to work
Server (Former Employee), Columbus, OH –
Pros: half off food
Cons: singing happy birthday
Typical day consist of taking customers orders then inputing that information in the P.O.S system then delevering that order. I would make sure that the customer enjoyed their food and that their overall dining experience was enjoyable. Once the the customers left I would clean the area for the next customers.

Nice place to work, if you do not want any advancements...
HOSTESS (Former Employee), Collierville, TN –
Pros: being around different types of people
Cons: management
A typical day would involve sitting guests according to a seating chart. Management was very self absorbed. They didn't care about the guests, they only cared about the money the guests paid. My co-worker were the greatest people to work with. They were very easy to get along with and I made many long term friendships there. Working with management – more...  was the hardest part of the job. They always acted like you were beneath them. They picked their favorites and if you weren't one of their favorite, they made your time there a nightmare and would try to find ways to make you leave. I was not the only one that was put in that circumstance. The most enjoyable part of my job was the guests. Of course, you would have a guest come in and no one can please them, but then you come along a guest that makes your day. I love being around other people and it definitely made my day when I could make a guests time there an enjoyable one. – less

Fun and busy work invironment
Hostess-Busser (Former Employee), Anchorage, AK –
Pros: tips, nice people, great co workers and managment
Cons: short hours, getting cut
A typical day at work at Red Robin would be satisfying the guests, guiding them to their tables, bussing tables and getting closing chores done. When I go out to eat now I am sure to make the dishes and trash a bit more organized because it makes it easier on the person cleaning and picking up that table, weather if it were to be a busser or server. – more...  The management was EXCELLENT, I couldn't have asked for a better manager..very understanding about situations and not judgemental or strict, my manager always helped with dishes, cleaning tables and listening to his employees concerns and problems. The hardest part of the job was the training because all trainees had to remember the whole menu, word for word-ingredient for ingredient. The most enojyable part of the job was handing kids balloons, meeting new people and seeing regulars. The weekens were really busy but I enjoyed it. – less

Waitress, Hostess Trainer (CDT), and Expeditor (Former Employee), Broomfield and Boulder, CO –
Pros: discounted meals for you and your family, steady business, promotion opportunities
Cons: reliability on generousity of guests, some shifts can be exhausting
I loved working at Red Robin. A typical day was busy which means more money. The management was respectful and led the team well. They care about you just as much as they care about their job. The environment lets everyone be friends but yet the professionalism keeps everyone in check. I learned communication skills, service skills, and social skills. – more...  I most enjoyed the family culture among the employees (managers included). – less
