Train the management. Train the new workers. No comp. Work any hours they give you. Get robbed. No concern for the employees at the bottom rung.
Auditor and Guest Manager (Former Employee), Harrisburg, PA and Columbia, SC –
Pros: being alone to work. being manager when alone.
Cons: no breaks. no benefits. no protection.
A bottom rung job. No breaks. No concern by management for the positioning of their employees. Violations of federal rights to have breaks and violation of civil rights to be protected in the work place.

RRI was bought out twice within 2 years and each new manager needed to be trained by the employees, as well as the physical renovations of the lobbies – more...  removed bullet proof glass and gave ease to robberies.

Although the employees were kind and stuck together, there were issues with management that they were afraid to report to the company because of fear of losing their job.

A messy company with troubled methods. – less

Great company overall needs no improvement.
Customer Service/Housekeeping (Former Employee), Detroit, MI –
A typical day at the job would be to start the day. I learned that if you make something a certain way people like that. the hardest part of the job was leaving for the day. I enjoyed working with all my co-workers as well as working for my manager.

Cons: low pay, the owner wouldn't offer pay raises, dangerous neighborhood.
This Red Roof Inn in Wilmington, NC was a nice place to work, however, there was no benefits or chances to advance in the company so i decided to find another job.

Poor product line with no support.
General Manager (Former Employee), Nashua, NH –
Pros: ok training program.
Cons: upper managment is not truthful, product is old and outdated, no vision for the future
Corporate structure has no vision of the future and is very happy to stay at the current status-quo. Has a strong belief in NOT making improvements to its product line and actually adamently rejects any suggestions for improvements or change.

New learning experiences daily
Maintenance (Current Employee), Panama City, FL –
Pros: experience building
Cons: no benefits or retirement earnings and low income
Check maintenance logs for current repair needs. General manager has daily work requests. Attend to tasks. I've learned many new areas in hotel maintenance since starting here, management has involved me in new tasks to expand my knowledge of the hotel. Co-workers are friendly and easy to work around. The hardest part of the job I find is being the – more...  only maintenance on site, sometimes I could use some extra arms. The most enjoyable part of the job is learning new skills to expand my working knowledge. – less

Great place to work and great people to work with.
Guest Service Representative (Current Employee), Framingham, MA –
Pros: flexable hours
Cons: short lunch breaks
Working at Red Roof Inn is an everyday learning experience. From checking guests in or out, collecting or processing payments, to the explanation of the room rates and taxes on the bill. Every guest is different and some times one has to find a creative way to explain these things to a guest.
The management is great and so are all the co-workers, from – more...  the maintenance to laundry to housekeeping.
The hardest part of this job is dealing with a irate guest, who believes they have been overcharged, and one is trying to explain the charges to them.
The most enjoyable part of this job is meeting people from all over the US and even other countries. – less

Overall Red Roof is a good place to work, this is my second time around working for the Red Roof Inn. Working with the public is interesting, and you should be a people person to work with the public.
