July 1972-Redmond Park opens its doors to our first patients

March 1972-Redmond begins using a new xray system designed for early detection of breast cancer (first mammography)

Spring 1975-Redmond opens first cardiovascular laboratory in the region...Drs. Raymond Young and Scott MacLeod are the first physicians

1977-Redmond introduced the region's first fully computerized pulmonary function lab

December 1978-Redmond adds 50 additional beds (from closing of McCall Hospital) on 5th floor and expands CCU, ER, Recovery Room, and Radiology

1982-Computerized Axial Tomography (CAT scan) added at hospital

April 1983-Redmond owns one of nation's few Ph monitors, designed to monitor Ph level in the esophagus

November 1985-New Carbon Dioxide laser utilized at hospital

February 1986-Redmond selected to take part in a national clinical trial designed to evaluate a new investigational drug for the treatment of duodenal ulcers

June 1986-Hospital receives approval for Open-heart program...offering northwest Georgia its first and only cardiac program

April 1989-Dedicated Oncology unit opened at Redmond

June 1989-Microvascular surgery first performed in Rome

September 1989-Introduced new ambulance service to community and changes name to "Redmond Regional Medical Center" to more accurately reflect service area of northwest Georgia/northwest Alabama
