Redner's Markets operates 40-plus warehouse club-style supermarkets under the Redner's Warehouse Markets banner and more than 15 Quick Shoppe convenience stores. Most of the company's stores are located in eastern Pennsylvania, but the regional grocer also operates several locations in Maryland and Delaware, having closed its one New York location. Redner's Warehouse Markets house bakery, deli, meat, produce, and seafood departments, as well as in-store banks. The employee-owned company was founded by namesake Earl Redner in 1970. It is still operated by the Redner family, including chairman and CEO Richard and COO Ryan Redner.
Redner's Markets rang up an estimated $859 million in sales in fiscal 2011 (ends September), compared with about $820 million in fiscal 2010.
Redner's has been tinkering with its store portfolio, shuttering underperforming locations, including several in its core Pennsylvania market, while building new stores in existing and new markets. Since entering Delaware with a store in Dover in 2008, a second store is slated for Dover in summer 2013, its fourth in the tiny state. It also added a store in Dundalk, Maryland in 2011 after entering the market in 2005. – less
