RedPrairie today is not the RedPrairie of yesterday. The company -- a provider of retail, workforce, warehouse, inventory, and transportation management software systems -- does business under the JDA Software brand name after acquiring JDA Software Group in December 2012 in a $1.9 billion deal that created a new industry leader in global supply chain management. RedPrairie is currently a wholly owned subsidiary of RP Crown Parent, LLC, which is owned by private equity firm New Mountain Capital. New Mountain Capital acquired RedPrairie in 2010, after RedPrairie had called off its IPO in 2009.
When RedPrairie was acquired by New Mountain Capital in 2010, the private equity firm pledged to accelerate RedPrairie's growth and strategic development. Since that time, RedPrairie made a number of acquisitions, including three in the span of one month in early 2011, in an effort to build upon and complement its portfolio of software systems and technological capabilities. Its purchase of Escalate Retail, for instance, gave it a retail e-commerce platform that filled gaps in RedPrairie's technology suite. – less
