About Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago

The Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago (RIC) is dedicated to helping people with all levels and types of physical disabilities not only to regain or improve their physical functions, but also to increase their quality of life by empowering them to participate more independently in family, social and vocational activities. The Institute has been ranked – more... the "#1 Rehabilitation Hospital in America" by U.S. News & World Report, every year since 1991 and is the first independent rehabilitation hospital in the country to receive the Magnet award for excellence in nursing services by the American Nurses Credentialing Center.

RIC researchers are among the world's leaders in advanced rehabilitation medicine. Research at RIC is conducted at the Searle Rehabilitation Research Center - the nation's largest research center devoted to rehabilitation research into the cause, treatments and cures of neurologically based diseases and disabling conditions. RIC researchers of neural engineering are working on three breakthrough technologies in the areas of the brain/machine interface, brain magnetic stimulation and thought-powered prosthetics, all of which are linked to critical functions of the central nervous system.

RIC operates a flagship hospital in Chicago as well as a network of DayRehabCenters and outpatient centers located throughout Chicago and surrounding suburbs. – lessMore from ZoomInfo »
