If you're looking for money.
Pest Control Technician (Former Employee) –  West Chester, PAMay 13, 2017
The days at JC Ehrlich were long. The pay is fantastic IF you're willing to work bucoo hours a day. You do have a few hard working individuals there that will help you out as much as possible; but they are too few and far between. Toughest part of the job was fighting to stay awake behind the wheel after a 14Hr. day. You can literally forget about getting home at a reasonable hour. On the plus side; if you're looking to pad your bank account; this is the place for you. Another plus is that the Medical Benefits and 401K are absolutely great.
Pros
Good Pay; 401K; Medical Benefits were great.
Cons
Long Hours day after day.

Long days, good pay, management is always questioning your integrity. Weekend and late evening work is a must. Hardest part of this position is staying awake when management drones on about how good they are. Are you a turnip? They'll get blood out of you!

pay

Local employees are great, Operations Managers are also a good group, but their hands are tied, when marching orders come from the corporate office. Sales and service expectations are a pipe dream. District Managers are hired to Toe The Line for the corporate office, and are focused on money, not customer satisfaction. No loyalty from upper management, sales and service departments are constantly pointing fingers at each other, and constantly playing the blame game resulting in gridlock. Pay advertised at 40,000.00 a year starting is a lie. Its hourly pay plus incentive. An unattainable goal, given the model they use in order to qualify for incentive. Techs are set up to fail using this model. Looks good on paper, or when its being presented by a snake oil salesman, but its false. Buckle up, this company expects a lot.
Pros
Operations managers. Company truck
Cons
Pay. Constant changes

When I first started with the company it wasn't owned by Rentokil. I thought I wanted to work their forever. The pay was great, the culture respectable, and it was a career where you felt you were doing good. Then the buyout happened. Slowly more and more "policies" were introduced that employees were expected to follow, but were never preached or no positive example was set by management. After the buyout more and more small companies merged. There were too many managers who didn't like or respect eachother and the growth of a negative divide started. Managers would constantly undermine other managers and talk poorly about other employees. There simply were too many cooks in the kitchen. What drives corporate success? Sales. The focus of the company switched to quantity and quality was put on the back burner. We were driven to sell services customers did not need to help our numbers. The use of earned vacation time was a nightmare. Normally, you put in for vacation and take it. Not here. Here you have to get all your assigned work done, find someone to cover your needed time off, then request your vacation.

Some of the positives were that the insurance was good and we got a take home vehicle. The pay was good, but you had to work more and more to earn the same.
Pros
Take home vehicle, insurance, 401k
Cons
Long work days, work weekends, bad work/home life balance

Pest Control Technician (Former Employee) –  Kent, WAJanuary 23, 2017
Upon working at this organization for about 2 years. The company has been recently been bought out by a bigger corporation. The family values and customer care has seem to decrease and ethnics are only based on earning a profit from these once loyal customers. The initial year for working for this family-owned business was great. After Eden was bought out by Rentokil, obtuse management decisions were made without input from employees. Bed bug manager shows favoritism and double standards to certain employees two those she has personally hired in her personal circle. There is no career progression ,new hires are chosen over those who have been there with seniority for years. A raise was retracted after it was promised to me for taking lead position.
Pros
Great 401k, Great medical benefits, company vehicle
Cons
Lack family time, Long daily commutes, Inexperienced management, Lack of communication and scheduling

Employees are given such a heavy work load
That they are told to skimp on service but tell the clients what they want to hear. I could go on and on about the things wrong with this place. Best advice is to avoid them at all cost

Pest Control Technician (Former Employee) –  Olympia, WADecember 10, 2016
Worked for this company for 2 years. Started off fine based out of my home town, great manager and a fun environment but then the Rentokil corporate take over began and everything went downhill. Now I had to drive 50 miles to the "new" office (old office was still in operation),pick up equipment and drive to job, work for 8 hours then drive back leave equipment off and sit for 3 or 4 hours in traffic to get back home. Complained to management but nothing done about our grievances. You are just a number at this company. So many pest techs have left in the space of a couple of weeks. New manager had no experience in my particular field and hired people from their own circle of friends. Benefits were great especially the medical but the terrible work conditions far outweigh the benefits.
Pros
Good medical, take home truck
Cons
Bad management, cronyism, days far too long..

Not good at all
Utility technician (Former Employee) –  Las Vegas, NVDecember 3, 2016
Worked for Western Exterminator which is apart of rentokil..horrible experience. Workload given is way to much, I worked 11 or 12 hour days almost every shift which led to bad home work life balance. No support from operation or district manager when dealing with certain issues. The training at my specific branch was next to nothing, had to learn as I went. On call every 6 weeks but even if your not expect to get a phone call, and when you think your work day is done, boom...last second work order comes in, which if you're lucky you will get a call from home office. Not a bad place to start your pest control career but I would still steer clear.
Pros
Take home truck
Cons
Poor work life balance, anitquated technology, horrible support system, dealing with very unreasonable customers.

Operations Administrative Assistant (Former Employee) –  Carrollton, TXOctober 16, 2016
The company is the definition of insanity..doing the same things over and over while expecting different results. There are some great people who work at Rentokil and the company could be great! That quickly gets overshadowed by the ever increasing workloads, challenging/often non working systems and inconsistent communication. Unfortunately the bottom line is all that is cared about. Teams work unrealistic hours that takes joy out of the work they do, tolls on their efficiency and then are dinged for it. When employees should be treated as a company's greatest resource, it isnt demonstrated by the company. This seems to tie hand in hand with so many acquistions/mergers...reinforces disconnection instead of cohesion. No recognition given for jobs well done or accountability shown. Only the offer of longer hours, more accounts and no real support. It's disheartening to see in this day and age.
Pros
Good benefits, strong focus on safety
Cons
Computer systems, Processes and procedures with non reinforced or not communicated with all parties, no work life balance

Pest Control Technician (Former Employee) –  DC/MDSeptember 30, 2016
Worked 13 months for Ehrlich/Rentokill as a pest control tech. Great initial training that gets you on a route in 6 weeks. On your first day on the route you will be given more work than your can handle. You must work every other Saturday and a on-call week once every 6 weeks. Just when you think your day is almost finished. ...3 more jobs pop up on your schedule. No regard for personal life. Great place to be for a workaholic! Quantity of work performed rules over quality and in time your oustanding attitude that you start with on day one will be transformed as "you give in to the dark side." Forget about advancement as they intentionally overlooked good long time employees to bring in folks off the street with no pest control experience. I feel like a freed slave with my new company!

If you have no hopes of a personal life and are content with dealing with long hours and constant bs this if for you. Company in which has zero cares about what you have done for them and quick to turn their backs when/if you are in need.
Cons
Typical big business, no regard for employees. All take no give! Not worth it

Medentex LLC is a bad place to work for
Business development director (Former Employee) –  Parsippany, NJFebruary 25, 2016
Medentex LLC is a dental recycling company that is "governed" from far away Germany, overseen by the UK multinational Rentokil. This strange combination and clash of corporate culture lead to a disastrous situation for young American employees and managers who tried to make this start-up subsidiary a success in the US.

I cannot recommend working with Medentex LLC. Unfortunately there is simply nobody there who can teach or coach you, nor train or develop you. Those who try will be consistently pressured and frustrated by management that cannot identify themselves with how the American medical equipment market functions.
Pros
Dental industry is generally a fun place to work
Cons
Everything else, due to poor upper management

Applicant (Former Employee) –  Frederick, MDJuly 16, 2015
It was a positive experience going through the hiring process. My 1st interview was great and seemed positive. Second interview not so much. For an hour my resume and application was verbally bashed by the second interviewer. You don't have this this and this. We can teach anyone to kill insects but you need customer service/sales experience. Job states to train but you need experience? The interviewer dissuaded me from wanting to work with the company. I have since gone to a competitor and I suggest you do the same.

General Manager & Business Development Director (Current Employee) –  Parsippany, NJDecember 19, 2013
Working hard every day as we were completely left alone without guidance or managerial interest

I learned to take decisions and live with the consequences just like any other entrepreneur

Management took ideas and work to pass to the top, to build their own career

Co workers were either helpful and frustrated or not helpful and mysteriously arrogant.

Enjoyable: The entrepreneurial independence and the ability to drive a business without interference, simply due to the fact that the management either did not care or did not have a clue on what we were doing.
