RNDC Texas (the Republic National Distributing Company) is the #2 distributor of premium wine and spirits in the US (behind Southern Wine & Spirits), serving about 20 US states and the District of Columbia. It operated as the Republic Beverage Company until 2007, when it combined its operations with most of those of National Distributing (National retained the Georgia and New Mexico territories). Prior to the expansion, RNDC was already growing; it formed partnerships with the operations of the Naifeh family (Oklahoma), Hertz (the Southeast), and United Distillers (Nebraska), as well as acquiring a 50% stake in Alliance Wine and Spirits (Alabama).
Strengthening its presence in the Midwest, RNDC in 2010 formed a joint venture partnership with Indiana-based National Wine & Spirits. Certain assets of National were combined with RNDC's operations in the state to form Republic National Distributing Company of Indiana. The deal extends RNDC's reach, and National likewise benefits from RNDC's wide service area, which may help the Indiana distributor to retain the 60% market share it controls in the state. Also in mid-2010 RNDC signed a five-year distribution deal with Foster's Wine Estates, granting an extension of RNDC's exclusive rights to sell Foster's portfolio of wines, including the Beringer, Lindemans, and Meridian brands, in Colorado. Around the same time, RNDC expanded its brand portfolio with the acquisition of several wine brands from Freeman Beverage Company in Virginia.
RNDC began life with the combination of the Goldring, Block, and Dreeban families' beverage distributorships. The families agreed in 2005 to merge their wine and spirits wholesaling companies and to use the Republic Beverage name at all of their locations, which included Alabama, Arizona, Louisiana, Mississippi, and Texas. – less
