A lot varies based on your location
Mechanic (Former Employee), Atlanta Suburbs, GA – March 25, 2013
Pros: some shops are union others are not. company is well known.
Cons: some shops are non-union. management and professionalism vary greatly from location to location.
I worked at more than one location before and it can be as different as night and day. The site I was stationed at full time was managed by an unfair and uneducated general manager. He lied frequently to more than one of us because he felt we weren't smart enough to check into them. He had favorites which happens a lot in this industry so there was – more... often times unfair work assignments on all of the shifts. Your co-workers vary from very knowledgeable to alley mechanics with little to no experience. This becomes a problem if you are one of the more experienced ones because you will have to work harder. – less

fun place to work
Customer Service Representative (Former Employee), Commerce City, Co – January 9, 2013
Pros: fun co-workers
Cons: management turn over
Fun, working in a call center, taking orders and helping customers with their accounts.

I learned to always be a good listener.

Management was good, always a big turn over.

Worked well with co-workers and we had a good time.

The hardest part was giving the best customer service, but in tight timeline.

Working with the customers and co-workers and – more... the contest we had it was fun. – less

OVERHEAD CRANE, MASON DEPT. BILLET STOCK YARD (Former Employee), Cleveland, OH – December 30, 2012
WORKING AT A STEEL MILL WAS A GREAT EXPERIENCE. INCREDIBLY LARGE EQUIPMENT IN AN INCREDIBLE WORK INVIROMENT.

MY CO-WORKERS WERE OUTSTANDING. IT WAS THE KIND OF WORK INVIROMENT THAT WAS VERY DANGEROUS, SO WE ALL HAD EACH OTHERS BACK.

Auditing in the waste industry
Internal Auditor (Former Employee), Ft, Lauderdale, FL – December 19, 2012
Pros: 1) seeing various parts of the country 2) salary and benefits
Cons: air travel
Typical day at work:
1) Review general ledger accounts and validate what makes up the balances by obtaining source documents
2) Control testing
3) Perform operational audits

The hardest part of the job is dealing with air travel and the constant pressure to complete the audit within a specific time

The most enjoyable part was seeing different parts – more... of the country that I have never seen before and eating at various restaurants. – less

Enjoyable place to work.
Sales Manager (Former Employee), Glasgow – March 22, 2013
A typical day for me consisted of opening the store in the morning, counting the safe and putting floats in the tills. I would then update the weekly notice boards with daily and weekly targets. I would then take a walk around the shop floor looking for jobs to be done, as well as checking emails to see if there had been anything sent in from hq/area – more... manager, and then compile a list of things to be done through out the day. Morning staff would then come in and I would brief them on the day ahead. When the store is open I would normally be completing visual merchandising tasks but I would also be making my way around the store to make sure staff are kept busy and to help any customers. At closing till I would leave the staff to complete recovery and make sure that the store was tidy for a new day tomorrow whilst I would be in the office counting the daily takings and filling in all the days paperwork. I would then come out and check the recovery to make sure that it was to a high standard before leaving for the night. The management within the store were really reliable. They made sure that every staff member felt comfortable and were happy to be at work, they would help out with any issues that staff had and were always there for advice. As like any large store there were some disagreements between certain staff who knew one another outwith the store but they generally got on well whilst working. I feel that this job was very enjoyable because being part of the management team made a valuable member of the team. I meant I was able to help those who needed advice or wanted to develop their skills within the company. – less

Not enough of a good thing
Sales Assistant (Current Employee), Chelmsford – March 8, 2013
Pros: nice staff, easy work
Cons: not enough hours, not very structured, no progression opportunities
Work varied on whether it was busy or not. If it was busy there would be a range of jobs in which you could do and you would mostly be given a choice as the management wasnt very structured and this would mean sales assistants would have to delegate jobs amongst themselves. However if it was not that busy you would just be doing the shop standards and – more... any jobs in which head office had set us out to do for the day. I learnt the basics of Visual Merchandising which i enjoy alot. I have also made some very good friends at this job whom i would stay in contact with after departing. – less

Productive and fun work place
Sales/Delivery Assistant (Former Employee), Sheffield – February 27, 2013
Pros: discounts
Cons: no room for progression
A typical day working at Republic was not a hassle I enjoyed going to work there.
I learned alot from this job as I did my NVQ level 2 there so I learned while I was working which was a big bonus for me. I also learnt you get what you put in to the job.
Management were lovely I never felt like I couldnt talk to them.
I also got on with the majority – more... of my co-workers obviously there are always a few that you dont get on with but I just stayed clear of them as not to start drama.
The hardest part of my job was knowing that there was no room for progression in the job which in the end pushed me to leave which was a hard decision.
The most enjoyable part of my job was the people I worked with they made the day much easier if I was having a bad day they were there to make me feel better which I think is imporatant in a team environment – less

Great work place
Sale's Assistant (Current Employee), Hanley, Stoke-on- Trent – February 13, 2013
Pros: great work team
Cons: can be bit lonely when on delivery on your own for the whole shift.
My typical day can vary due to what day i work. On certain days in the week i deal with all the delivery by myself, from making sure all the right totes are there, counting everything within the box (to make sure there's nothing missing) tagging, hanging and getting it all ready for the shop floor.

Other days i will be on the shop floor where i meet – more... and great customers, deal with refunds, sales, exchanges , customer orders, and other issues customers may have, placing new lines of stock.

We are very good as a team all help each other when need something doing weather its from helping with a move to change of shift and we get on great. – less

Customer Service Role (Former Employee), Colton, Leeds – February 11, 2013
My position was only temporary for 2weeks over the busy festive period, so it would be more ideal for me to write a review on one of my other previous positions. For example, my role as a sales assistant at Next.
Working at Republic was slightly enjoyable although I did not get to experience much of the working routine due to the fact that all managers – more... and supervisors were very busy trying to prep and get everything in order for Christmas. Therefore, for the 2 weeks which I was with Republic for I just had to do the same job of processing in-store/warehouse returns. It got very tiresome and monotonous: I feel like I could have been faced with more of a challenge. – less
