Very interesting work environment, as Ricardo is Research and Development of power systems, anything from small electric to large diesel and alternative energy.
Management styles vary accross the Group. My managment team has been with the company for the longest and have the most retained staff. They are hard working and mindful of their employee's needs. I observed that not all of the Mangement is like this, so I work in the best group (I think so anyway). I find that all of my co-workers are professional and motivated, you won't be staying at Ricardo otherwise.
The hardest part of my job is that I don't have a real Purchasing Professional as my Supervisor, so I am not always able to get the correct support or information that I need. My Supervisor's background is in small manufacturing and procurement. Our Purchasing is not set up as a traditional purchasing department, as it was built from the procurement requirements. I hired in to help with Procurement Bill of Materials and transisitioned to the role of Purchasing Agent when our small maufacturing progam ended.
The most enjoyable part is working with a good group of people that are knowlegable and considerate.
