Leadership development opportunities need restructuring
Business Education Teacher (Current Employee), Columbia, SC – March 30, 2013
Pros: opportunities given to students to explore outside the classroom
Cons: paper work, lack of appreciation, lack of accountability to students
A typical day at work varies from day to day
I have learned how to manage in a diverse setting
Management in the classroom is structured where students have a rigorous, challenging, and positive learning environment; administrative leadership does not show appreciation to staff for their hard work and dedication
My co-workers overall are pleasant but – more... definitely divided
The hardest part of the job in education is implementing programs with no support or data to track the success of the program
The most enjoyable part of my jobs is seeing my students succeed in high school and beyond high school in a career or college – less

The typical day at work
Special Education Teacher (Former Employee), W. J. Keena High School – September 10, 2012
Pros: you get to work with dedicated teachers
Cons: lack of advancement
Work enviornment was segmented between teachers, administration, and parents. No parental involvement in the lives of the students, and lack of career guidance for these special needs children.

It is a good school district to work for. There are plenty of opportunities to grow.
Certified Substitute Teacher (Current Employee), Columbia, SC – August 31, 2012
Pros: stable school district
I totally enjoyed working for this progressive school district. It is one of the largest school districts in the state of South Carolina and offers room for growth.

Wonderful Place to work
Substitute Teacher (Former Employee), Columbia, SC – August 14, 2012
Pros: everything
Cons: 15
I love assisting children, and working as a substitute teacher provided me with alot of experience. A typical work day would be demonstrating leadership and structure in the lassroom in absence of teacher. The hardest part of the job is at the end of the day when those bright smiling faces go home. The most enjoyable part of the job is providing instructional – more... assistance and knowing that you are helping the endeavor's in a child's future. – less

Productive and fun work place.
School Bus Driver (Former Employee), Columbia, SC – May 24, 2012
Pros: benifits, holidays, vacations
Cons: make up days, boring inservice training
Pick up bus and do pre-trip, then proceed to pick up students to drop off to school. Do a post-trip and start the procedure over after school ends. How to drive a bus while monitoring students behind your head.Watching traffic and getting students home safely. My co-workers are very outspoken and a lot oh humor. Student misconduct, Driving the kids and – more... to see there smiling faces. – less

The school makes all of the difference
C.A. Johnson (presently), Keenan (Current Employee), Math teaacher – November 9, 2011
Pros: the art of the "oh, noooow i get it" moment priceless at any school, with any student.
Cons: the workplace can be very "click-ish, stay out of the teacher's lounges, mind your own business
In Richland School District One, there is a variety of students, but the more underprivileged the school you're at is, the harder you must work to get your students caught up. I like the challenge of working in Richland One for that reason, but it now that jobs are a minimum, it is likely that a transfer or dismissal will be trailing you.
