Purchasing Agent, West Chester, OH - October 28, 2016
This is a good position to have if you are in flux and needing work and wish to work in a fairly relaxed environment concerning dress code and the friendly attitude of those you work with. The learning curve for this job is quite high and fast paced and the job itself is quite intense. You are handed several sales orders and you manage every step of the order from there. You create an order for the blank goods for a print order from an outside vendor, then create a separate order for the printing at an outside printer, manage all the communication between the two and your company, you work with the customer's staff, the art department, and the shipping and receiving crew at each vendor. Then you manage the whole process to make sure the blanks get to the printer, the goods are printed and are shipped to the correct customer address on time, and you typically have an average of 20-30 orders to manage per week, unless during the busy holiday period, then it can nearly double if not more. I have learned to increase my organizational skills and my communication skills at this job, as well as my time management and how to deal with stressful situations when things go wrong. The management at this company is good, open communication is encouraged. The people you work with and around each day are wonderful, all very fun and enthusiastic and willing to help with anything you need. The hardest part of the job is the intense time crunch of the learning curve for the knowledge base you need to do your job every day. The most enjoyable part of the job is the people you work with.
