Recently there was sales force merger. the smaller sales force merged into the larger one. The culture on the Reynolds side of the company is sink or swim. They talk about leadership dimensions and talent development, but the Division managers are hands off, at least this has been my experience. I came from Santa Fe Natural tobacco, were the culture was talk the talk and live the values.
RJ Reynolds is all talk.
RAI as a parent company is great! However they are so far removed from the territories around the country. The management dose not encourage upward mobility, there is a lack of consistency in the coaching and development. This not necessarily true for all management throughout the organization. There are good managers here. Allot of tenured the mangers have antiquated leadership style, or lack thereof. If you are looking for a company to move up the later, look else where. Promotion is not given on performance merit, all though they claim it is. It very political here. All about who you know and if they like you.
