Road Runner is a broadband high-speed online cable service that will soon be available to consumers in Time Warner Communications' fiber upgraded service areas in South Texas.
Road Runner utilizes broadband cable networks and high-speed cable modems to provide customers with the unique opportunity to connect to community resources and access the Internet – more... at unparalleled speeds (up to 50 times faster than a standard dial-up modem) to explore a wide range of entertainment and information services.
Road Runner's exceptional speed allows easy access to graphics, audio and video from CNN, Time, Sports Illustrated, Money, People, Life, Fortune, Entertainment Weekly, as well as all the content - from all over the world (see what the "World" in World Wide Web really means) - the Internet has to offer. Road Runner's speed also allows users the opportunity to take full advantage of e-mail - sending photos and video clips to friends and family members - and to set up their own personal home page on the Web.
Road Runner will eventually be available in South Texas communities where Time Warner offers cable service. However, due to the need for two-way hybrid fiber/coaxial infrastructure, the service will initially be available to customers who live in neighborhoods that have been "fiber upgraded."
Time Warner Communications has an aggressive upgrade schedule and will continue upgrading neighborhoods throughout 2001.
